Re: Where can I get an OG Nintendo?

wow. A hundred bucks. way too much to spend on a console that won't ever run without problems.

Nintendo needs to buy up the licenses of all the games and make a small 'console' that has all the games on a mini hard drive and sell it for 50 bucks. I know i'd buy it. It would sell like hot cakes.

Emulators are cool, but they still don't give you that old timey feel. Part of the nes experience is blowing inside the cartridges and banging them with your hands and swearing at them, and getting really pissed off and randomly punching some douche in the nuts.

mom and pop game stores are the definite way to go. Otherwise, flea markets, flea markets, flea markets.

This one local gamestore here had a TON of nes games and about ten nes consoles. The guy would shop around at local flea markets and a big trader's village in Canton.

Ya i know wat u mean but for space if he could use an emulator till he finds a cheaper system. There used to be this thing at the mall here every year they would have old games, cards, beanie babies that kinda stuff. Now that i think about it i should watch out for that and see if i can pick up an old console.

Yeah some places in the mall have these controllers that plug right into your tv, but have 50 or so nintendo games stored on them. Very cool idea and I think they sell reasonably well.

Re: Where can I get an OG Nintendo?

Ebay is the only place where they are readily available anymore. There are tons of NES consoles on there where you don't have to buy a package deal, so just look around.

I bought one for like 12 bucks a few months ago. It didn't have the flip down slot cover and it needs a new 72 pin connector, but it was dirt cheap and I couldnt pass it up.

The top loading systems supposedly are much more reliable, meaning you shouldnt have to replace the pin connector, but there are a couple drawbacks to it.

First, they are really expensive because everyone knows about them. I haven't seen one go for less than about 70 bucks on ebay.

The other thing is that, unlike the original NES design, the top loading system does not have composite video and audio outputs. The only way to hook it up, unless you have it modded, is to use the standard RF adaptor (cable hookup). Not a huge deal for most, but something worth noting.

                  Good luck.

This thread can be locked now because I got one off Ebay last night for $25 including shipping. And no games deal. The ones with games didn't have any I wanted anyway. I'd say I would've payed pretty much the same had I found one in a store anyway so I'm content. Let the retro gaming begin...again.

If you have problems with the NES system (green screen flashing, game not working, etc.) then go back on Ebay and search for the: 72 PIN Cartridge for the NES System. This is the connectors inside the system that the games touch. It is real easy to install and only cost around $15 on ebay. I changed out the PINS in my original system and it works perfectly!! Almost like new...no blowing into the system and no green screens. I highly recomend.
