    Re: No Man's Sky

Wow! The whole Universe really feels alive now. I was doing some stuff at my home base and could see ships, including Frigates and such, flying thru the atmosphere. Then all of the sudden these pirates show up and a full fledge dogfight starts. I am standing there watching this all unfold when more pirates show up and start shooting at me on the ground. I make a break for my ship with crap exploding all around me. Seconds later I am in this massive dogfight on my home planet and I am not even in space.

    Incredible.

Hot fix is incoming. There are a couple of glitches and they are turning down the Pirate frequency. Honestly it is needed. While it is fun to have such an active world it is getting a little intrusive already while trying to do other things and constantly getting attacked by Pirates. I mean really often. I have started a new run and on my home starting planet I have been attacked like 3 times in that last half hour. This is AFTER finishing the starting quest line and the starting Pirate quest, not right at the beginning.

Pretty sure I own this on PS5, and I think it’s also on Game Pass. As someone who would be totally new to this game, would I be way too overwhelmed at this point jumping in?

I think you might be at an advantage as you're learning and experiencing stuff for the first time. The game does a good job at explaining and guiding you through the various game mechanics

With all the stuff they keep adding, it makes me wish there were more than just the 3 NPC species
Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII
            Penguins : 1990/91, 1991/92, 2008/09, 20015/16, 2016/17
            Pirates : 1909, 1925, 1960, 1971, 1979
            Panthers (FB): 1915, 1916, 1918, 1929, 1931, 1934, 1936, 1937, 1976

Yeah, frequency definitely needs to be tweaked. Didn't encounter any in space but they kept showing up every few minutes when I was exploring planets. I was surprised I didn't encounter any in space since the system I was in pre-patch became an outlaw system post-patch. Also, though the NPCs on the outlaw space station are pirates and trade in black market wares, the NPCs planetside in outlaw systems still seem to be normal NPCs, or at least the one I encountered wanted to sell me stanard upgrade modules rather than black market stuff.

One thing that bugs me about them (and has bugged me with regard to hostile fauna and setinels for a long time) is that the pirates seemingly know exactly where you are even if you're underground/in a building.

I love this game. You all know this as a true statement. But I am done until the hotfix comes out. I played for 2 hours this morning. I was on a Storm Planet farming Storm Crystal for the heck of it. This was in a Tier 3 System that was Flourishing and at Peace. In that short time I shot down 78 ships all from Pirate Attacks and Random 'There is a Dangerous Target Nearby", I was also killed 5 times just trying to get to my ship. I swear there was never a time that my computer was not spouting off about some Invasion or Deadly Target. My lord I have NEVER been this frustrated with this game and I have been playing since day one. ENOUGH

                    Agree with the above.

Love this game. I take my breaks as most do, but I always end up back and playing year round.

This update just is a miss for me. I don't really like pirates or "enemies" coming to my base or the planet I'm on.

Or just REALLY tone it down.

Ooof, that rough. Were you playing normal mode or survival mode? When I'm being attacked and getting close to dying when battling sentinels and no shelter nearby I just take out my terrain manipulator and tunnel underground to escape.

Normal mode. Yeah I have figured out a few tricks as well. Its just super annoying. You really can't get anything done because of the constant attacks. I mean its EVERY PLANET, ALL OF THE TIME.

To be honest it does not even make sense for the "story"

                        Spoiler

I just tried again. Its just non stop. About every 10-15 minutes. Ship computer just constantly yammering "Threat Nearby" Ugghh. This is just the worse launch of content they have ever had. I was so pumped at the start of this. Frustrated to say they least.

I would say no. The AI is not that advanced. There are more ways to interact with them and deeper "story" lines. But AI like the Elder Scrolls and such. No not really.
