Bunch of rumors going around in regards to Far Cry 5.

    - Could be "spaghetti western" based.
    - Could be a prequel to Far Cry 3 with the "5" being the roman numeral which is "V" which could be in regards to the game being focused on Vaas from Far Cry 3.
    - Could be a modern day western based Far Cry.
    - Is set for a September 2017 release.

Those are the different rumors going around about Far Cry 5. The one confirmation in regards to the game is via Jason Schreier from Kotaku who said that the only thing he can confirm is that the game is set in the state of Montana.

Wouldn't mind that at all. Modern day Far Cry in Montana. Yes please!!! The only concern would be is that if it's anywhere close to being like RDR 2, Ubisoft needs to make sure that it stays away from RDR 2.

I'm fully expecting a Far Cry 5 announcement at Ubisoft's E3 press conference which im super hyped for.

You're welcome. I wouldn't be pissed but I don't think it will be because the older weapons wouldn't really fit in with what Far Cry is. Not to mention the fact that RDR 2 fills that area.

Good point, I was just thinking about RDR 2 and having 2 Wild West games would make no sense.

I would love FC 5 to be about Vaas... Take us back to Rook Island please!... FC 3 is my GOAT!

Speaking of FC 3, did you see my post in the FC 3 thread?

I hope they improve things a bit. I really enjoyed 4, but was very similar to 3...hope they can at least make the story/protagonist more of a positive, and not just have a clone without any gameplay tweaks. I'd probably enjoy another generic FC game, but the AC series has taught me that they can go to the well too often.

Reading up on it more, the rumors were based on a TV commercial being filmed for the game. Montana setting is confirmed, will be modern day and is set for a September 2017 release which actually makes sense because Ubisoft is going to release three major titles by the end of March 2018. September will be Far Cry 5, late October will be AC Origins and im guessing February/March will be South Park: The Fractured But Whole as im sure Ubisoft wants to release all of their finished or near finished games before the eventual Vivendi hostile takeover happens.

And yes I did. I replied too. Could see an expansion maybe but full fledged game is unlikely because it would overshadow Far Cry 5 since Vaas is a fan favorite.

For me, I just want a good protagonist, a Vaas type antagonist with a good story with all the stuff I love about FC 3/4 and im good to go. I don't want Ubisoft changing the gameplay at all. They can add/tweak some stuff but that's it. They change the core gameplay and I think that like AC Unity, it will backfire. The gameplay, visuals, music, etc. don't need to be screwed with at all. It's the protagonist/antagonist, story and supporting characters that need the most attention in my opinion.

Give me my outposts, my radio towers, my fortresses, etc. boss battles and hell yeah!!!! I'm good to go!!! LOL.

Good points. I don't want to ruin it, I guess the story/characters in 4 weren't enough for me. I still loved 4, but if they can really hit that this time then with a few tweaks to make it fresh it'll be great. It'll all depend on the setting too, if it's more of a different one then it could be really interesting. FC tends to be somewhere far away usually (island, far away country, etc). Modern day Montana sounds very intriguing to me.

Primal was excellent as well. Far Cry 3/4/Primal is only one of two franchises in which every game I played and completed, I rated a 9/10 or higher. Uncharted is the other franchise.

Overall, I enjoyed the characters and story in 4 more than 3 especially when you get the best ending in 4. 3 was good but the second half slightly fell off.

Modern day Montana definitely has me hyped and very interested. Far Cry 5 in September sounds good to me!!!

I suppose I like more relatable players...4 the guy just randomly becomes a killer in his home country, whereas 3 I could believe someone trying to save their friends from crazy people. The 2nd half of 3 did drop off, you're right. Hopefully they can nail it this run.

Did you finish FC4? Get the best ending? If yes to both, then you should understand where Ajay is coming from. He's trying to clean up his home country. Yeah, he becomes a killer but in the hopes of making things better by eliminating the garbage that is there. Granted, it may not seem like that at the end of the game but you can see that Ajay's heart is in the right place. Just doesn't go the way he wants/hopes.

I agree with you about FC3 and the protagonist. It's just that after Vaas, it becomes boring story wise. At least in FC4, the main antagonist is in the entire game. I hate it when a good villain is eliminated halfway through the story. It literally deflates the story and interest for me because it's like, okay, the main bad guy is dead and now, it's just next man up or some crap like that. And for me, that's like UGH.

Both games are easily a 9/10 in my opinion and should be played. Except for the co-op stuff, I completed both games 100%. Gameplay is so much fun.
