Xbox: Component HD-Pack Cable Extensions?
I have a question for you. I plan on purchasing the HD pack so I may hook up the component cables to the back of my 46" Hitachi in order to have a high-definition experience with my Xbox. Now, I want to hook the audio cables into my receiver to get the full 5.1 Surround sound experience. There is about five feet of distance between the back of my TV and the back of my receiver. My question is; can I purchase a cable extension to run from the audio cable dangling from the back of the TV, to reach the back of my receiver? Will this cable degrade the audio quality? Any help is appreciated.Tags: None -

To answer your question, you wont get 5.1 that way. You need to buy an audio optical cable. This is what will give you 5.1 It plugs into the xbox HD pack, next to the component cables, and the other end plugs into the optical jack on the back of your reciever. -

Re: Xbox: Component HD-Pack Cable Extensions?
Vader - I'm not sure if i'm following you correctly or not but the ONLY audio cable you will need to get the 5.1 is an optical cable. Those cables can be anywhere from 3 to say 15 feet long so don't worry about it not reaching the receiver. The optical cable will plug into the HD Pack then to the receiver.Comment

Re: Xbox: Component HD-Pack Cable Extensions?
Oh I know. It is the same type of cable that I use for my DVD player. I did not realize that you needed an ADDITIONAL audio cable AND the HD pack in order to get the benefits of 5.1. It's all good!Comment
