Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
Millennium is playing this right now.
The graphics are awful for a PS4 game (basically high-res PS3 graphics), but it does look pretty fun from what I've watched so far. The web swinging looks good with the separate left and right hand controls and the fact that your webs have to attach to something makes a huge difference.
I wouldn't pay full price for it, but I'm considering trading a game or two in to get it after I see the movie.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
It is what it is advertised to be, a sequel to the last one with some Next Gen juice. It feels like more of a last gen sequel than a full out next gen game. If you like the last one then it is a pretty safe buy; baring some game breaking bug popping.
Combat is last game with more "Batman" feel mixed in. Some pretty sweet sequences worked in but they feel a lot more by random chance than you get out of Batman if you get really good at it. And I am either doing it wrong or it is missing that piece where in batman you go toe to toe, grapple out, lose the remaining bad guys, and setup your next planned attack. It seems like it wants to be there, but once toe to toe starts it is pretty much toe to toe until that "room" is cleared. Stealth is there a lot stronger but once stealth is broken there is no easy way to reestablish it within the same room; that I have figured out yet.
Some game mechanics have the potential to be good, ok, and annoying at the same time within certain parts of a mechanic. Hero/Nuisance: infinite missions; good in that it was missing from the last game;, bad in that they get repetitive fast and you can choose not to do them but other parts of the game get more and more annoying, and annoying in that they are instanced within the open world so cutscene and load to start, cutscene and load to end.
Costumes could get annoying too. I liked to switch a ton in the last game. In this one each costume is like a separate/new character as far as Experience advancement goes. So besides the stat drop to a new costume, the spider sense power you have maxed out drops to default until you earn the Xp to train it on this one too. I am hoping I don't have a full understanding on this one yet. It eventually goes away as you get your favorites leveled up but finding that new shiny costume very late game is going to be a let down when you start without the basics you have grown accustomed to. I am fine with advancement for a purpose, but this just feels like grind for the sake of grind to artificially stretch hours played.
It is what it is, a progression over the last game. Next Gen touches, but doesn't shout NEXT GEN!Comment

Like I mentioned a couple of pages ago, Activision didn't provide anybody with review copies. You guys have probably played more of the game than anybody from those outlets!Comment

Re: The Amazing Spider-Man 2
I am enjoying the game too. One thing I will say is that those "Fire Rescue Civilian" side missions are unforgivable. I think because I am playing the hardest difficulty, the timer runs faster?
There was like 3x where I had the civilian rescued [basically]... meaning they were off of the burning building, and out of harm's way but because I didn't get them in the little spider circle the mission was failed.
The game restarted me every time, right before the side-mission I failed. On the bad side, it seemed like there was no punishment for failing. My hero meter didn't drop any further on the menace side. On the good side, I don't want to miss those rescue missions so I'm glad I can re-do them.
One thing I just noticed is that clouds started pouring into the city and there is lightning flashing in them. It looks pretty cool. Don't know if the weather is random/dynamic or scripted, but nonetheless it is cool to see the environment change like that.
I am 17% complete right now. I completed the Shocker boss-fight. It took a couple tries on the hardest difficulty. Each one was fun and I enjoyed the boss fight. Really looking forward to the other ones, especially theSpoilerCarnageOriginally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

^^I think this is a pretty solid statement.

When you play a game like GTA 5 and see how that city is a living breathing world it's hard to play a game that is supposed to take place in the busiest city in the world yet feels so lifeless. You can't interact with citizens at all it seems. You swing down to the street and while you may hear random gibberish about spiderman it feels like they don't even recognize you are there. Even in the Incredible Hulk game you could interact with citizens and other objects. In AS2 you can only interact with who/what they want you to. I understand I'm spider-man and I'm not supposed to want to web or pick up random citizens, cars, etc. so maybe they could use the actual hero/menace meter and punish me for these actions negatively andSpoilersend the kingpin/osborn task force after meSpoilerYou could also air random news reports by JJJ or the news lady about your acts (audio that is already in the game) causing citizens to react to you negatively by throwing rocks, sticks, etc at you
First impressions I'd give it a 6-6.5 out of 10. While the fighting is pretty cool and swinging thru the city feels and looks good the game still seems archaic with wonky control when on foot or in/on buildings(a problem that has plagued some of the older spider-man games for years). These things coupled with my previously mentioned issues really hurts this game in my eyes. It's fun regarding the things it does well but NYC feels so dead in this game that I easily get uninterested in it. I'd be really curious to see what rockstar could do with this license..Last edited by NINJAK2; 05-06-2014, 03:21 PM.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
