Can this be played offline or is it exclusively online?

Is it linear or can you explore the world outside the story line?

There is no multiplayer in this. As for linearity I'm only a few hours in, but it seems to be pretty linear in the first two hours I've played it.

I had never heard of this game, my buddy at GameStop told me it was similar to souls. I bought it and oh man was he right. It's clear they took souls games as a template for this. The alternate control scheme in the options maps the buttons just like souls too, which I love.

          This game is great.

Found it delivered late last night and just turned it on for a 4GB update. Ughh... patiently waiting for update to finish. Ok, not so patiently, but waiting none-the-less.

Re: Lords of the Fallen (PS4/X1/PC)

This game is actually really, really good. As a big Dark Souls fan, I figured I'd end up being disappointed. Especially after I read that it was more accessible (which it is), because I took that to meant easy.

Welp, 3 bosses in and I've had my *** handed to me about 50 times already. So far, here are my pros and cons:

              Pros:

              - The game provides an immense, intelligent challenge. The combat is super weighty (more so than the souls series, even), so strategy is much more important than stick skills.

              - The bosses are really varied in terms of challenge. Each boss provides a lot of unique problems.

              - The game is gorgeous at times.

              - The music is awesome.

              - The weapons are unique and provide different looks from one another.

              Cons:

              - The FPS is pretty bad (Xbox One and PC, not sure about PS4) and dips quite a bit when they start throwing a ton of particles at you.

              - The enemies don't have the same awesome design that you'd hope for in a game like this. My guess? They had limited funds. Environments are not varied so far.

              - The story is meh and the dialogue is bad, but to their credit, they don't give it a ton of weight. It's a little more like the souls series in that sense.

              - Character models are outdated.

              - The level design is pretty trash. No real shortcuts, and nothing that adds to the challenge. It's mostly getting from point a to point b.

              Overall:

It's an easy 7.5 from me (if you use the full 1-10 scale) and will hopefully get a sequel. Most of its shortcomings seem to come from the fact that it didn't have a huge budget to work with. Would definitely recommend to anyone who likes Dark Souls. If you haven't played those games and are looking for a good entry point, this would definitely be it.

Fun game but not overly difficult, if you enjoyed Souls, it's pretty much a clone. More weapon variety (according to reviews, I haven't gotten far enough to speculate properly.).

Not a bad game, but a little disappointed due to my extremely high excitement for the game (hearing that it was comparable to Souls).

I've died twice, two bosses in, and not to either boss. (Both due to me getting hit by an archer when I wasn't paying attention).

From everything that I have read it seems that Bound by Flame was a warm up to the Lords of the Fallen which is a warm up to Bloodborne.

At least, that's how I see it and still want to play all three.

I'm 5 bosses in, and so far this game is EXTREMELY difficult compared to every game I've ever played except for Dark Souls. Actually, I've found some enemies in this harder than Dark Souls but being able to pause makes a difference.

Overall, this is a very quality game. Playing it, you can definitely tell that it was inspired by Dark Souls. If you enjoyed Dark Souls then you will probably enjoy Lords of the Fallen.

This seems right up my alley: Dark Souls with a loot system. Will have to give this game a rent. Still wish the Demon/Dark Souls games would get a Collector's Edition release on next gen...

I do have to say that once I hit the third "Lord" (Boss), it did intensify difficulty wise, and it appears that the first two were largely tutorial bosses so I guess I have no reason to be complaining about easiness.

Third boss killed me about 8 times before realizing a strategy and 4 more after finding out that strategy and 1 more after furthering my strategy.

Rare that a game had me think like that, not even Dark Souls had me go about my strategy in such different ways. The base game's difficulty is a bit more on the easy side but once you get into a few of the specific enemies and bosses it does ramp up, so I suppose I spoke too soon!

It is a pretty good game, thus far I'd give it a 8. Largely on the basis of all the stuttering, some odd glitches and the voice acting isn't very believable thus far and seems kind of tacked on.

IMHO the controls are not as responsive as Dark Souls. I've trouble with the slow response at times.

Just picked up this game. For those who have played it, what's the best magic and class combination?

I'm leaning towards the Brawler and Warrior combination.

                              Thoughts?

Rented this from GameFly and have enjoyed it so much I decided to keep it. Some of the boss fights have been a bit much but the game itself is a well-done Dark Souls clone that fills that role quite well.
