It doesn't. Has a horde survival type mode but that's it

It looks like you could play the Garden Mode which is Plants against AI Zombies by yourself. If you want to play as a Zombie it is multiplayer.

I played 2 matches of the Garden Ops mode last night (plants defending their garden against 10 waves of AI zombies). Each match took a little over 30 minutes to complete.

Then I played 3 or 4 matches of the Welcome Mat multiplayer mode which was first to kill 50 of the human enemy team (either plant or zombie). I was overmatched in this. Not sure if it was because my weapons weren't upgraded as much or not. Couldn't tell, I just know it seemed like others could kill me faster than I could kill them.

Definitely playing some more tonight, it was a blast.

You don't want to jump into multiplayer until you unlock all three of your powers in garden ops with the character you are going to use.


Even then you are going to need to buy packs to get weapon upgrades before the playing field is level.

That's what I was noticing. I went in multiplayer as a pea shooter first because I had all three abilities, but no weapon upgrades. Then as a zombie I was the All-star and got the three abilities during multi-player, but was beat around pretty good. I sure got a lot more coins in multiplayer from doing nothing than I did in Garden Ops in which I was one of the top players though.

So the weapon upgrades, are those from the card packs or do you earn them from leveling up similar to getting the abilities?

If you want to just spam for coins to get packs the quickest gardens and graveyards is the way to go IMO.

Garden ops is could to get some challenge done and lvl up but it's useless for coins.

I would also recommend sticking to the 10k or 20k packs. They include character pieces and weapon upgrades.

I was finishing about the middle of the pack for the most part in multiplayer. Had one round where I was 2nd place. I didn't look into how stickers work or how to upgrade or anything. So I am sure I could have had some better weapons or something.

I don't particularly care to get card packs for customizations, those things don't interest me. I want to level up my different plants and zombies. So Garden Ops seems like the best way to do that for plants but I won't get as many coins to buy packs that have weapon upgrades right? So maybe just do the Garden and Graveyards multiplayer to level up my characters?

You can always switch over to garden ops when you get a challenge that involves AI opponents. But you are exactly right about the coins. Will take a while to obtain all the weapon upgrades playing just garden ops.

You will also get more skip challenge cards the more packs you buy. Which will help you lvl up. You unlock a character variant automatically when you get a character to lvl 10

I had no trouble last night at 11:30 central time. Played for about an hour.

I kept getting a connection error when I first started, took me about 5 minutes to get into my first game, but after that it was just fine. Got in right away. Enough players last night in the two modes I played. Will play tonight some more to see if it stays that way.
