    Costume Quest 2

    I liked the first game.

Double Fine's Sequel Arriving Halloween 2014

Costume Quest 2 is coming to PC and consoles this Halloween.

“I saw [a sequel] more as a demand,” Double Fine’s Tim Schafer told IGN. “I don’t know that I had much choice in the matter.” Costume Quest 2 is in full production now, and “got up and running really fast.”
Double Fine’s first-ever sequel features an improved battle system, “deeper and juicier,” Schafer said. Returning heroes Wren and Reynold will have a “new batch of costumes with which to transform into giant super powered fantasy Hallowarriors,” according to publisher Midnight City.

I thought the first one was pretty good too. A very light RPG, but it was fun to play.

Damn, Double Fine sure is busy this year though. That's 5 games in development now.

This is great news - the first one was one of my favorite downloadable titles last gen.

Polygon: Costume Quest 2 is a treat for fans and shows how Double Fine does sequels

This time, however, the action moves to a new suburb in Louisiana.
For the sequel, Double Fine is refining the battle system to keep players more engaged by adding attack combos and slightly changing the timing button presses in battles — players must now press the action button as their character strikes with their attack, not beforehand. The same is true for defending against enemy attacks. It's a small change, but an important one.

If players nail the timing on their attacks, they'll get an opportunity for a follow-up attack. And then a third.
In Costume Quest 2, players will have access to a wider variety of Halloween costumes. Some fan favorites from the first game are returning, but Double Fine is expanding the dress up options with at least four new playable costumes: the Clown, the Superhero, the Pterodactyl and the Candy Corn.
First, your party's health won't automatically regenerate after each battle. You'll have to find water fountains to replenish your hit points between skirmishes.

Second, Double Fine is adding cards that players can use to enhance their battle abilities. Rice described them as a combination of the Battle Stamps — modifiers that each character could equip — and the collectible Creepy Treat Cards from the first game. Players will be able to purchase cards from vendors or earn them by completing tasks, and they can be used in battle to give you an advantage, but with limited uses.

Hopefully it (or both games ideally) will come to the PS4. If I had a PC at home I'd have this downloaded already.

Coming to PS4 and PS3 on Tuesday:
...we’re happy to announce that Costume Quest 2 will be available on both PlayStation platforms just in time for Halloween on Tuesday, October 28th.

Even better, PlayStation players will receive a special treat with it: Sackboy!
Awesome. I was hoping this would release in time for Halloween. It'd be nice if the original would be released, too, but I'll take it.

I only got to play this for about an hour yesterday, but I can already tell its going to be fun. It seems like they've dumped a ton of content onto the base of the first one.

I really wish I could get a Brutal Legend sequel if this is how DF does sequels.
