    Cabela's Big Game Hunter - Pro Hunts (PC, PS3, 360 & WiiU)

Picked up this game the other day for the PS3 and have really been enjoying it. Haven't played a hunting game in some time as they were more arcadey then sim. The game still has arcade elements but it feels more authentic and have to plan your approach. Got the game and gun bundle for $34.99 so it was a pretty good deal. I tried the gun but it does take getting used to and your arms can become tired after a bit. I am still early with the game so still figuring things out but so far I've been having a good time. Nice change of pace from the norm.

Is it open world? Atv's? Does the landscape funnel you where it wants? I can't remember which game it was it had tree stands/blinds all open world you could select all of your supplies you could set up in farmers fields it even had online probably 10-12 years ago..a true hunting SIM so tired of the arcade aspects..

Well it is not a true sim as there are still arcade aspects to it but it is more authentic compared to the more recent releases. There is no online other than leaderboards to compare your scores to others. There are no vehicles in the game you just travel on foot. You can crouch and go prone you can hold your breath when taking a shot, wind and sound are a factor. There is an authentic difficulty but I haven't tried that yet just been on casual to get used to the game. I assume it turns off certain things to make it harder so I'll have to check that out. Campaign has a map with 4 regions, northwest, northeast, southwest & southeast and each region has normal hunts with challenges and open hunts as well. The map displays animal icons where they may be present and show's where the blinds are located. There is a timer on what you do even in open hunts but it's not terrible. When shooting an animal it's like what sniper elite does showing the bullet in slow mo then showing what vitals are being hit inside the animal. You follow blood trails and hoof prints to find and collect your trophy. More impressions later.

I just so happened to get this sent to me through my work.

It's been awhile since I've written any sort of game review, so I took the opportunity to write one on this game.

I don't hunt, so I learned a few things about hunting in this game.
