I need a little help. I just bought an Xbox(great deal at Costco, 189.99 for the console, an extra S controller, the DVD playback kit, and Mechassault- same package at best buy would run $229.96) in preparation for this upcoming seasons football titles. Well, that and the fact that I feel that my 5.1 setup and HDTV were not being fully utilized by my PS2, and the fact that I needed a DVD player in my room, where the PS2 is being moved. Anyway, since the football titles are still a little ways off, I was looking for some game recommendations that would hold me over until then. Thing is, I only play videogames about 8 hours a month, probably less. I would like a game that, regardless of how many gameplay hours are needed to complete it, doesn't require that the player to sit for long, uninterrupted periods of time to make progress(a game where there are long distances between save points, for example). Part of the reason I enjoy sports games so much is that I can sit down, play a game for an hour, and then come back to the game in two weeks and pick up right where I left off(what this means of course, is that I rarely manage to finish even a single season of any dynasty, and that I never get "good" in a game before next seasons edition comes out-that said, I buy a title for every major sport each year, plus minor sports like soccer and tennis). I would like another type of game(meaning not sports-related) that allows me to follow a similar playing style, i.e. one hour here, two hours there and still feel satisfied. In addition, it is important that the game have a strong single-player component(I don't have Live yet and debating weather I should get it at all, given how infrequently I play any game-I only use my PS2 network adapter for roster updates, and have played less than 20 online games of anything, despite buying it on release date), since I am stuck for the summer in my college town while all my friends have gone home. Finally, I would like a game that really makes me notice a difference between the PS2 and Xbox graphical and visual quality, so I can feel I made an "upgrade" with this latest console purchase(yes, I still need to justify my purchase to myself, and since no one I know has an Xbox and I've never played it outside of a store demo unit, I really don't know what to expect).
