What's the difference between the two digital downloads. One is like 24 the other 50$?

Re: Metro Redux
So I'd expect $25 to get you one game and $50 to get you both.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
Ok. So regarding stealth again.
I just read some older Steam forums where players are discussing silenced weapons. But the problem is, aside from like one throwing knife, I don't have any and I think I should by now. I'm on:
SpoilerChapter 3. Bourbon was just killed and I just met Khan.
How do I find or get the silenced VSV or the silenced bow or silencer for my pistol??? From the armory in the towns or on dead bodies?Comment

Re: Metro Redux
I gotta say...
3 chapters in (to 2033) and I'm really impressed. Haven't been this captivated by a FPS since Bioshock: Infinite.
There's a good ratio of plot/combat/stealth here. Along with some mysteriousness too!
Exploring the semi-open outside environments are exhilarating. I'm playing on normal/survival and knowing that I NEED to check every nook and cranny for materials, while not knowing WHAT'S lurking around me, provides a wonderful sense of tension and fear.
The stealth sections are a little tough to get through undetected. I actually have to do some research to see if it's possible to clear these parts unnoticed. But what is there, even though I generally only only get about half way through before getting spotted, is fun and rewarding.
The monsters also seem to take an absurd amount of shots to put down. Fortunately, I discovered last night that at least in the early sections, you can stealth kill some of them so that definitely helps.
I hoping to find a silenced weapon soon. That or some more throwing knives as some sections just seem to be inundated with things that need to die. Some long distance silent options would go a long way in helping me.
So far, I'm really really impressed with how much I'm enjoying this game. If anyone has any tips to share, especially regarding stealth and long range stealth weapons, I'd be eager to read them.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
I'm playing on Normal/Surival at the moment and have died more times than I can count.Keep in mind, I'm notoriously sucky at video games.
I read somewhere that although Ranger Mode is more difficult (obviously. You take more damage, more relentless AI, etc), the enemies are actually tuned to take less damage as well as a countermeasure!
That could be complete bull****, but if true, is something I always have wished more games would do on their toughest difficulties (here's looking at you Watch Dogs, TLOU, and just about every other game in existence) because humans having to take MORE SHOTS to die is very unrealistic.
I say Google it for a definitive answer. Let me know if you find anything useful!Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 08-27-2014, 05:01 PM.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
Here's another question:
Is the double barreled shotgun designed to shoot with BOTH LT and RT? Every time I aim down-sights with it, it fires. Does that mean hitting both buttons shoots two rounds simultaneously for twice the impact?
I realize I'm like the only one playing this right now, but when you guys catch up, any answers to my previous questions throughout the thread would be helpful.
Anyway, I love it so far. Not having been spoiled in any way about this game I'm genuinely excited to see where this story takes me.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
Yes.
I was tempted to do so, but will save that for the second playthrough once I have a good understanding of the story.
Someone over at TAY (a user run sub-site on Kotaku) wrote an article on this and essentially warned first time players that this will probably make the plot tough to follow. THAT and some NPC's dialogue isn't subtitled at all.
However, some user comments suggest it would be possible to follow the gist of things if you're really good at reading and playing simultaneously.
I love the idea of immersing myself in the game's native language. However I plan on waiting to do this just incase.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
I played a good bit tonight, maybe 2 or 3 hours with my headphones on. Very nice game, a lot of fun. I am playing normal/survival and it hasn't been too bad - I have had enough supplies to get by.
I am stuck though, at a point where I keep dying.
I am atSpoilerthe part where you and Bourbon go up top into Moscow. I am at the end of the level when the flying demons come in and attack. No matter what, they end up getting me. I just can't shoot them fast enough or deal them enough damage before they swoop in and pick me up. Any suggestions?NCAA: Michigan Wolverines
MLB: St. Louis Cardinals
NHL: St. Louis Blues
NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers
EPL: Liverpool RedsComment

Re: Metro Redux
Yes...that's the way I play it but the only problem is that the subtitles are only for the main characters. So the people around you are not subtitled and you miss out on some side conversation.
I had to lower the gamma all the way down to get that dark tunnel look again. I don't like how everything looked too bright in redux.Comment

While you and Bourbon are taking your final stand together against the monsters, one of the flying demons will fly into - and knockdown - a chain-link fence. This is your path out.
Once the fence is down, run towards what looks kind of like a well. A "cutscene" will occur where Burboun lifts you inside it and you'll advance into the next section.
Speaking of getting stuck, holy ****, did I get absolutely mind-****ed last night in chapters 3 and 4.
I had to google an IGN Walkthrough to get past them. Rant to follow.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
Still enamored with this game. But I guess not being used to this game style is making me feel like the stupidest video-gamer in the world.
In Uncharted and TLOU, follow the shiny golden buildings. In The Walking Dead, solve the puzzle clearly laid out before you. In Ubisoft games, the marker on your HUD is a good indication as to how to finish your mission. But holy crap Deep Silver, could you possibly make the necessary objectives less hard to find? Give me a glowing icon or something!Especially if my way out is tucked behind a corner or my objective piece is tucked on a hard to find pillar when it's pitch black and monsters are on my tail.
Cursed:
SpoilerThis mission requires you to blow up an entrance to a tunnel and disable an air vent. But I'll be damned, for the life of me, I could not find the explosive on the wall upstairs near the fire pit. I must have walked by that thing 100 times before Googling that the bomb I needed to detonate was invisibly place on a piller. And it wasn't really glowing or anything.
Ok, lesson learned. This game demands you really pay attention to your surroundings. I can dig that. I love exploring in games. Deep Silver 1, H&V 0. I can respect that.
Now onto Frontline:
SpoilerEvery game I've ever played, when you're given a stairs level, always requires you to go to the top to advance. Or at least you're required to in some way before advancing the mission.
Frontline places you on the second level of a three tiered staircase with enemy soldiers on all three levels. Essentially, it's a stealth set-up but with a ton of enemies.
To your left is a way down to the first level and it's clearly where you are supposed to go. I sneak down the stairs and stealth kill everyone on the first floor. Looking over this ledge, I notice there is this path to some pipes because a wooden board connects the staircase to the piping. I walk on it hoping to rummage for some supplies, but it leads nowhere. Anyway, I can clearly see that I needed to make my way to the third floor anyway. There was a clear path there and a ton of enemies. I make my way up.
After clearing the entire top floor, which was awesome, I see that my exit is all the way down on the other side. So I just walk there. And holy ****, the second you get two thirds to the end of the walkway, you die within 5 seconds no matter what you do, every single time, from about 20 instantly spawning soldiers.
I tried everything I could think of to get past this section. Well over an hour. I mean, it was clearly the way to go! Even my watch said so!
Except, that's not how to beat it.
Remember the bottom floor I cleared with the pipes and the board and the path that leads nowhere. Apparently, on the other side of the railing, totally hidden, is a second "correct" path you have to parkour that leads to the end of the level where you have to climb up, yet again, another hidden object that doesn't glow at all - a ladder.
I NEVER needed to go to the third floor at all.
I've learned some pretty steep lessons with this game. It is absolutely crucial that you keep your eyes open and be observant of EVERYTHING, no matter how trivial your surroundings may appear. This has to be one of the first games I've ever played that treats its players as intelligent, never showing its hand or belittling you, trusting YOU will eventually figure a way out (kind of like how MGS/Kojima does).
I just wish I was smarter.
I learned some things about this game last night that weren't clear on its surface. Hopefully that knowledge will stay with me and get me through without needing the help of Google or IGN walkthrough guides!Last edited by Heroesandvillains; 08-28-2014, 11:40 AM.Comment

Re: Metro Redux
So I'm at about the halfway point in 2033 and gotta say I think this has become my favorite FPS series of all-time.
The atmosphere and level design is glorious, and the story on top of it is really really great. Aside from some extremely suspect voice acting (I REALLY wish I could play it in Russian without the fear of missing out on some of the story), this game has delivered exactly the kind of experience I had hoped.
Using what I had learned the hard way yesterday about being observant, I gracefully completed the second half of Frontlines by sneaking around and finding a non-combative way to complete the objective. Nothing feels more gratifying as a gamer than planning out a course if action and watching it to fruition.
I say this is a must buy if you like games with a good tense atmosphere.
It's kind of amazing how a small Ukrainian studio could make something of this caliber.Comment
