If they can somehow improve the servers and the matchmaking then I am fine with them pushing the new operators back. If it doesn't get better though then this is a huge failure on their part.

If anyone here was around the actual launch, then you know how terrible it used to be. There is still plenty of work that needs to be done, but this game has come along well as sad as that may be given the state of some aspects. I haven't touched my PS4 copy in over a year since I've stuck with the PC version instead so I don't know if the console servers are still pretty bad like they were when I last played. The state of the PC matchmaking used to be an absolute joke, but it definitely is much better. They still need to really work on lag compensation. Peeker's advantage in this game is still way too strong with decent connections and that is multiplied when playing with ping abusers. Queue times used to be a pain, but I've been getting into games within 30 seconds the past week at the Plat level so I would assume most ranks would get games quickly as well.

The timing for this announcement is a joke. We were a week away from the DLC release. I guess Ubisoft made this decision awhile back and sat on it privately which is pretty bad. That or they sat on their hands and didn't do much work on the DLC. I'm not big on new operators so I will live and I think the DLC maps have all been pretty terrible. Favelas and Yacht are some of the worst maps in any video game I've ever played. I hate the super hero operators direction the DLC has gone as well, but this is still my go to FPS game right now. I care more about fixing what is already there and making quality of life improvements over adding new content. Personally I wish the operators were simplified and toned down a bit.

I am back in one of those terrible streaks. I got near Plat 1, then had a string of overtime losses that put me back at the Plat 2/Plat 3 line. Played some more close matches, but lost more than I won and am now back in the middle of the Plat 3 rank and it has gone to trash like last time I was here. I'm talking I'm 2-18 in my last 20 games. I don't know how I have even stayed in Plat with it being this terrible. I'm lucky to have played so many games this season I lose 10 mmr a match so it'll take 20 more losses to get out of Plat, but thankfully the season ends in a couple of days.

Solo Queuing is a nightmare when it's bad. It's either a pretty good experience or downright awful. There is no middle ground. I went 0-5 tonight in matches. 3 of those matches I had 2+ teammates go without a kill. Only one match wasn't a 0-4 or 1-4 loss. I don't understand how people at this rank can fail to communicate and be so bad on just lack knowledge of the game. They had to have gotten carried to this rank or just misplaced after their 10 placement matches.

As someone who is so damn bad (but really new, just played about 2 weeks).. are there any must know tips?

I love the game but most games I go without a kill. But still have tons of fun.

Yeah, there's no real crazy tips to be given...The learning curve is super steep. I'd recommend unlocking Sledge and Thatcher for offense and Rook for defence. Then take every death as a lesson in regards to map knowledge and angles.

Yea that's the biggest thing, just learn the maps and each room on each map for call outs.

As others said, map knowledge is key.

                    As far as operators:

Breachers are ALWAYS needed so definitely don't be shy about picking any of them. Ash, Thermite, Hibana, Sledge, or someone who synergises well with them such as Thatcher.

Defense I would suggest operators that have useful team roles before unlocking operators that are more nuanced in play style. So basically Rook, Jager, and Mute can always help the team.

I would also suggest against playing as Castle, Blitz, Capitao, and Tachanka because (currently) they are either countered hard by other operators, or (such as in Blitz's case) have skills that are rather poor.

Castle just requires you to think and work as a team. You can't just hole up inside the room. You use Castle to funnel them in certain areas or to cover a backside when setting up an angle. He's actually a pretty popular pick in the pro leagues. I semi-roam with Castle and will use a couple doors to funnel them one direction and use another door to cover my flank depending on what angle I am working. If you play with randoms it is harder to use him because they'll tear your barriers down all of the time and set up their own defense which counters your strats and makes both weaker.

I agree he is a great operator, but I don't think he is suited very well for beginners. Typically new players who use Castle just secure the objective room, mainly due to lack of map knowledge or teamwork. It usually ends in disaster when the first Fuze grenades come pouring in, or a good Glaz starts poking holes. In a pro's hands any operator is viable, but an inexperienced Castle is annoying at best and a liability at worst.

I've been playing this game for months now and there's still a few maps where I feel like a chicken with my head cut off. There's just so many rooms in these maps lol.

The main operators I currently use are:

                          Attackers:
                          Thermite
                          - I love his assault rifle and his perk is very helpful basically everywhere.
Thatcher - His perk is extremely helpful (especially if nobody else uses Twitch) and his gun is alright for me.
Buck - I use the semi-auto gun with an ACOG; switching between that and the shotgun attachment is a really strong combo IMO; I also love having frag grenades.

                          Defenders:
                          Castle
                          - carry the shotgun and impact grenades and you can really dominate with this guy. There's basically three uses for the perk: funnel attackers where you want them, protect your blindspot, or to set it up in a way so that you can hang nearby and once you hear them start to try to tear it down, you can blow it up with an impact grenade and kill them with the shotgun before they have a chance to defend themselves.
Valkyrie - I really enjoy finding clever and helpful places to place cameras. The main map I use her on is Bartlett U; I have really good camera locations there.
Bandit - The perk is very helpful if you use it right and his gun (I think a sub-machine gun?) is the only gun in the game where I love using the iron sights.
                          NFL: Bills
                          NBA: Bucks
                          MLB: Cubs
                          NCAA: Syracuse

It's going from 1-2 shot kills to 2-3 shot kills, his recoil is being changed, and I believe they said they are also slightly reducing his rate of fire. They could really weaken him with all 3 changes, but that is Ubisoft. They really struggle to find balance.
