Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch/WiiU)

This game fells and doesn't fell like a Zelda game. It fells like a Zelda game in that you play as link and you have Zelda in the game but it doesn't in that the game is about exploration and lacks dungeons and when I think of Zelda games I never thought about exploration at all and always thought about dungeons. Game is flat out amazing though best game I have ever played. I have always loved Zelda games though favorite video game franchise of all time and like 5 Zelda games are in my top 20 games of all time list. When it comes to Zelda I would go like this.

    1. BOTW
    2. Oot- Also my 2nd favorite game of all time.
    3. TP
    4. ALTTP
    5. SS
    6. WW

1-3 are pretty close over all 4 was the first Zelda game I ever played SS is the most underrated Zelda game and WW the most overrated Zelda game ever.

Re: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch/WiiU)

I haven't played Zelda yet. Of course, it's tough to do when you can't buy the damn console despite already having the credit for it. Oh well.

I do have a question for you guys -

If the map had icons on it (shrines, karok seed locations, etc.) and you weren't able to turn them off, would the "exploration" be as great to all of you that say it is?

I'm very curious about this because I think the lack of icons being on the map truly enhances the "exploration" of the game.

Oh, for sure, I would HATE icons on the screen. Creating the map is the best!

When it comes to Zelda games Music, dungeons and story are the first 3 things I think about and love and they were all lacking in BOTW which is why it kind of doesn't fell like a Zelda game but at the same time the fact I love this game has much has I do with even though those 3 things lacking shows just how good the rest of the game truly is and is why I fell like has good has this game is the next one can be even better. Nintendo just needs to focus on those 3 things in the next game and reuse the engine of BOTW and give us a new Zelda game in 2020 and we are looking at like a perfect game.

I agree that it's Zelda but it's not. Way more open world than I'd experienced (I've skipped a few), but the controls and camera are great.

More exploring and questing vs. the more strict/linear feel that old Zelda games had (where you'd have to go to a certain dungeon to get a power for the next, etc)

I wanted a Switch anyways, but Zelda and MC helped sell it more. It's amazing though, i keep finding myself wanting to play and explore.

After at least 10 hours, maybe 15, i feel like I've barely scratched the surface....this game is so deep.

I think I've finished the game enough for me. I have all the armor, all upgraded to 4 stars except all the repetitive amiibo ones (I did 4 star the Fierce Diety), got most of the amiibo specific weapons, did all shrines, all side quests, all monster medals, etc. I may fight Ganon one more time for the fun of it, but I think that's about it. I think I got around 200 Korok seeds, I'm not going to bother with those anymore until the DLC comes out with the Korok mask.

Can you think of anything else I can do? I've seen the Lord of the Mountain, but never tamed it not that it really matters. I guess I could try filling out more of the Compendium but that just seems like busy work.

Don't get use to having one weapon because they will break. Arrows are hard to come by so don't over use them.

Here's where I'm at currently with the game:

                          Hours Played: 80-plus
                          Hearts: 14
                          Stamina Wheel: 2 full wheels
                          Shrines: 56
                          Korok Seeds: 30
                          Divine Beasts: 3
                          Master Sword: Got it!

Getting ready to take on the 4th and final Divine Beast (Vah Rudania), and once I get through that, I'll probably do a little more shrine hunting before making the trek to take on Ganon.

Outside of playing season mode in sports games, this is by far the longest I've played a single game. Just an amazing experience.

I finished the game today! There's so much I want to say, but don't have the time right now, so I'll just say that this game was exactly what I needed, as I had started to grow disillusioned with video games in general. A true breath of fresh air. Nintendo absolutely knocked this game out of the park.

I put in just over 100 hours and left A LOT on the table ... to the tune of 50 side quests and 7 shrine quests. I could easily sink another 20-40 hours in the game completing those tasks. The DLC is coming at a perfect time for me, as it will give me a reason to keep the game in my Switch.

This was one of the greatest experiences I've had in 30-plus years of gaming.

Tried out some of the DLC and overall I'm happy with the quests that have been added to the game. The Master Sword trial is addicting. Seeing the journey you took through the game is really interesting; I died a lot more times in the beginning of the game than I remembered.

Oh, and you also see your actual game progress. After 100 hours, I'm at 15.13% ... That is crazy! Time to go exploring!

Have not really had that much time to play the DLC yet just about to but I did look at my Hero's path Friday night and found out I had died 626 times no this is not a joke it was really that many. I still have a lot of side missions I have not done and I still have like 27 shrines left after around 145 hours and had not played much the last like week maybe 2. Now with the DLC out I am going to play more has before the DLC I had felt like I had been ever were but know I hadn't with the amount of stuff I have still not done and now with having the hero's path I know were I need to go that I have not went to yet.
