Re: Thief II impressions?
If your into extreme stealth games then you will love this game. The sound is great and Im really into it so far. If you are looking for a shoot em up game this is not for you. It makes splinter cell look like a run and gun game. I really enjoy it so far. Its very dark so make sure you adjust your lighting options in the game.Comment

I have it for Xbox. I got it on the day of release and have put quite a few hours into it. I think it's a really cool game with great atmosphere and sound. This game really emphasizes stealth more so than SC like was earlier stated. Based on the combat system you will not win many head to head battles without utilizing stealth or having well placed head shots with arrows.
The first two missions are really training missions to get you accustomed to everything. Once you get in the city though, this game really picks up.
The graphics are pretty solid for the most part. The main character animates pretty well especially when you are in crouch mode sneaking around. The game has no animations for the character picking up things or opening chests/doors. Most of the male NPC's have good detail, but the women must have been a complete afterthought to these developers. Up to the point where I am, they all look like Olive Oil with weak facial design when compared to the males.
The lighting in the game is really good and I like the environments thus far. The game does suffer from some frame rate problems at times. This will usually happen when you become discovered and the action gets frantic with 2-3 guards after you thursting for blood. It isn't drastic, but it's noticeable.
My biggest gripe is the map system. I can understand that the map menu dictates the time period, but I find myself getting turned around going in the opposite direction a lot(This problem may be user specific). If they could have added a red X or something on the map to indicate your location that would have helped greatly. I'm still learning so navigating the map system may improve for me.
If you really like stealth games, I'd recommend it. If you do buy it, I'd recommend playing it with a set of headphones on in the dark as this really adds to the whole gaming experience.EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.Comment
