Games Similar to Splinter Cell ?

i had fun wiht Splinter Cell
Are there similar games especially with a little more freedom of movement? I like how in grand theft auto you could go all over the place , get in vehicles etc... It would be awesome if a game like splinter cell let you go throughout , Or allow you to finish your objective in different ways , anything to make it feel a little less like you are following a linear pre-determined path.
Splinter Cell 2 looks like it will be cool.

What are some similar good games ?

Thief 3-Way more freedom than SC with occasinal framerate stutters, MIssion Impossible, Rogue Ops=Don't much about these 2 but I heard they have elements of stealth involved.
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.
