I finally picked this up today. The file is just too large to download and I had a 15% off card for the NEX on base. I've never played the original so I'm expecting an epic game. I hope you guys are right.

Re: The Last of Us: Remastered

I finally got the chance to run some multiplayer last night and I had a great time. I died a ton when I first started, but I was finally able to get a few kills once the rounds progressed. Nobody in the game was using a headset, but I just tried to stay somewhat close to my teammates and took my time moving around the map. You definitely can't go Rambo mode in this like you can in other shooters. I'll have to experiment with my setups a bit and see what weapons I like rolling with.

Re: The Last of Us: Remastered

So far with my impressions I will say this is a good game and I have not had any issues at all with it. Everything works well, it's got pretty decent graphics. Looks amazing at times, other times it doesn't really look impressive, but not bad either. The gameplay is fun, the AI isn't bad. There have been times were I am able to rush the AI and get kills when I feel like I should at all, but maybe that is because I flanked them and sprinted up and hit them? I feel like vision is what they rely on 100x more than sound which I don't like.

However, with that being said, I have enjoyed the game. It's right up there with Rockstar's stories in their games which is right at the top of all of gaming. I will say I think the game is pretty over hyped. I don't regret buying it at all. Like I said, i enjoy it a lot, but it's definitely not the greatest game I've ever played.

That's just my opinion. I know many of you will disagree. It might just be where linear games aren't my favorite generally and that takes away a bit from me. I don't know what it is exactly. It's a good game and does nearly everything right, but it just seems super over hyped to me by the media and gamers.

I guess I should add that I am playing it on the level right below grounded and still have a ways to go in the single player, but those are my initial impressions after a few hours of playing it.

Matchmaking is pretty much a joke. My buddy and i have been playing recently, I'm level 3 he's level 1 and we get matched up against players that are in the level 15's, 20's even 50's.

Is this like a known issue that will be addressed or is there really no plan to match up levels when playing online.

Re: The Last of Us: Remastered

Canes, the gameplay IMO isn't revolutionary, I think the game gets so much praise because of how the story drives it. You witness player development, growth, and their relationship with others.

In comparison to other games, IMO the cut scenes don't even create this bond. You as a player have the option to create, or view this through interaction.

There's so many subtle things that happen during the game that made me praise this game how I do.

If you're playing to beat the game, then you may go the whole game without actually seeing how beautiful it can be.

If you take the time to clear sections, hear the communication, and find some sequences then IMO you will understand why so many people give this game the hype.

Between the story and overall presentation it really pulls you into the world and shoes of the characters. During certain parts I had forsaken my scavenging sensibilities just to advance through the story faster.

It is all the luck of the draw. I am level 17 and many times there are people higher than me, and many times they are lower than me.

That said levels don't really make you over powered (weapons/perk wise). You just have to take a few lumps, and get into the rhythm of how games play out. It may take a few levels if you aren't familiar with the multiplayer. I have played since the PS3 launch and I still get my *** handed to me on occasion.

Sausage, Supply Raid is the most popular mode I would say. But, I play Survivor a lot as well.

Yea, the gameplay is far from revolutionary and really isn't anything special. The story definitely is great and I can see why so many people like it. I'm not saying I think the game is bad. I think it is very good and am glad I bought it.

That being said, I just think it was over-hyped. I don't know how many times I read that is was the GOAT when it first came out on the PS3. I just don't see it. Sure, the game is really really good and I am loving every second of it and it's easily looking like it is going to be in my top 10 of all time, but I just think it was getting way too much hype when it came out. That's just my opinion on the matter. The story is great and the characters are on a level hardly any games have reached, but the gameplay is lacking. It's more or less a 3rd person puzzle/combat game and the story takes care of the survival aspects instead of the player. I was hoping for more situations where I would actually feel a little fear and have to think about my next move, but the game just doesn't have that. Not yet at least. I'm only 7 hours in and just

I don't exactly know what they could have done to make it better, but it's definitely nothing special.

Did you hear about how great the game was BEFORE you played it or after?

Cuz if it's before, you might just be going through a severe case of hype backlash. You hear how great the game is, build up expectations of what you specifically would find entertaining or a great game...the game isn't what you thought it'd be on a fundamental level that no game of its type could reach...

And it feels like the game is overhyped when you just unintentionally held the game to a standard it never intended to meet.

I didn't have any high expectations for the game. I jsut expected a good game with a good story. That is what it is. All I am saying is the game was severly over hyped in my opinion. Nothing about it is revolutionary, the graphics aren't amazing(which tends to be a big topic these days), and the gameplay is very average. It does have a very top tier story. That's this game wrapped up in terms of the offline experience which was hyped up like crazy.

The game met my expectations, I am just saying it does nothing revolutionary which confuses me as to why it received all of the hype it did.

Just finished the game. I put it on easy and played with auto aim on because I liked the story more than the gameplay. In my top 5 of all time. here's my thoughts on the ending.

                                Spoiler

I also finished Left Behind and wasn't as enthused. I finished it just because I started it. It seemed more geared to a teenage crowd. Which makes sense if they didn't include the scenes from the main game. Those scenes felt like they were in the way and thrown in there for something to do.
