I'm pretty sure I invented some new words when I played this yesterday.
The first one that comes to mind was when I yelled.. "Monkeybunk"... no idea where that came from.
Just happened. Daughter won't let me live that one down I don't think.

I'm a sucker for these types of games. My only thing (and I'm not trying to be critical) is the jump scares really have ran their course.

I'd rather have a game where the atmosphere along with real actions scare me.
Show me someone standing in the woods with an ax that is slowly walking towards me.. then they go into a faster trot etc..

You can be watching a comedy and a jump scare will still scare the crap out of you. Just think jump scares are cheap and need to get toned down and real fear instilled.

I tried this out for a bit earlier and my three year old daughter walked in and asked dad what's that? I tell her it's a scary game and after a few seconds of watching she was like dad you should play battlefield.

I made it to the last puzzle. I got one laugh from the baby, couldn't get any more. It seems completely random to me, honestly, but it could just depend on what color the room is. I've had blue, red, green, and then normal colored rooms for the last puzzle. No idea what to do. Gave up after 90 minutes as it isn't that important to me.

I beat it, you HAVE to have a mic plugged in. What I did in the final loop:

Not sure if it matters what color your light is.

Step one, make sure you have a mic attached and not muted (might want to make noise, not sure what mic is listening for, I just narrated what I was doing).

Then, loop door and go look (R3) at assembled photo and then stare (no R3 necessary) at clock until bells.

Take ten steps up the hall, baby laughs.

Go look (R3) at everything important (phone, radio, writing by front door, writing over loop door), go to bathroom and stare at fetus in sink.

Don't move anything, soon you will get second laugh, then vibrations, then laugh, and finally a phone ring. Answer phone (R3).

Some of that might not be necessary, might not matter what you look at waiting for bells, might not have to look at everything. Keys are, from what I've gathered, 10 steps, being still, and open mic.

All depends on how long it takes you to figure everything out. Knowing everything, maybe 45 minutes? I played it probably closer to 4 hours.

Ok. I beat it. But this is odd.

I feel like I didn't experience even close to half of what the demo offers. Maybe I'll...gulp...have to play it again!!! Oh no!

the talking bag. My flashlight never changed color. I never solved the puzzle pieces. I only died once and that was when the radio said "turn around" and I stupidly did. LOL! Otherwise, I never saw the ghost...because I froze, mainly, when I heard her haunting.

And against popular theory, I was OFFLINE. Most people believe you need a mic and an internet connection to beat it. This is false!

After around 15 minutes trying to get the second giggle, I relooped and plugged in my headset hoping this would help. Although I will test this again without the mic tomorrow!

Basically, I can confirm to beat the game:

The 10 step theory about walking 10 paces after the clock rings works everytime. This gets you the first baby giggle, everytime. The second took me some trial and error. I read a theory that after the first giggle, look at the phone. Stay still; not zooming, just looking at the phone. After two "hauntings," wait.

During the third haunting, look at the front door. Look at the exit. Front door. Exit. Repeat until you get the second giggle.

Once you get it, stay still! Your controller vibrates. Phone rings. R3 on phone. Door unlocks. Walk out. Game over.

It worked! Why? I have no clue!

I'll try to recreate this tomorrow with no mic. If I dare. Damn, this game is the scariest thing I've ever experienced and I think I (maybe for my sake) missed a bunch!

I played the last loop probably close to 2 hours with no mic,

nothing past the first giggle. I turned on the game without my mic muted, get through the end first try.

Also, when I got the vibrate/2nd/3rd giggles, I never moved. In fact, I sat the controller down. 2nd and 3rd giggles might just be timed, once you have a mic.

Yeah, I couldn't make it through Outlast, and this just destroyed me. Well done, for sure, but I am not brave enough to play it through
