    Re: Wasteland 2

Wow even on the easier difficulty levels this game is hard. Just got through the first mission. Definitely a lot to explore. The game is addicting because they show just enough of a blacked out area to show that something is there but you have to do certain things before you can get to that area. So it's like there is always a carrot dangling infront of you.

The major downside is I can't get the game to run consitantly without crashing. My specs are fine on my computer but I can't seem to diagnose the problem.

I switched the steam mode to offline and now I don't have any crashing issues. The game is beyond addictive. Be very careful sitting down with this game on a worknight.

I feel like I've just scratched the surface and I'm 30+ hours in. Also there are choices in this game with different consequences so I would imagine there is some replayability too.

I will definitely buy it for PS4 and support the team. Hopefully this turns into a major franchise. To my knowledge this only covers the Western US. The eastern US would make a nice sequel.

          Re: Wasteland 2

Just finished the game. It was pretty awesome. I was a huge Wasteland fan though and had nostalgia running through my veins.

The only thing I wish they could have added was an ironman mode. It felt cheap reloading. Sure that's on me because I chose to do that, but this game with an ironman mode where every decision was crucial would have been awesome.

The game is long, especially if you try to complete all the side quests and read all the books and readable items you pick up. You can count on about 100 hours of gameplay.

There needs to be more games like this and X-Com with the tactical combat and ironman mode. I liked Xcom more for the combat and Ironman mode, but liked Wasteland 2 better for the story and all the characters you meet along the way. I thought it captured what a post nuclear landscape would be like with different factions and militias vying for power and lack of ammunition readily available. You couldn't just waste rounds of ammunition for the good weapons. The game also made you think, you might find something down the road that someone you met much earlier or have yet to meet may need.

The game wasn't really linear at all. There were a couple of major missions to progress the story, but everything else was side quests that seemed crucial at the time but were actually not necessary to the main story. Without doing the side missions and gaining the experience and skills and weapons though I'm not sure you could make it through the game, but maybe.

Anyway they are updating the graphics, fixing the bugs, and releasing it on the consoles this summer. Check it out if you get a chance.

Tomorrow is the release of the DC edition. Bad timing I guess as W3 expansion is out the same date. I really hope the console users will play this one because it's an amazing game and most probably it will be better in this new edition with all the extra features and fixes.

I've had the PC version since pre-release I'm safe there as I've had my play time with it. NOT a lot and not very far at all as I kept re-doing it up until full release and updates.
Really looking forward to Fallout 4.

Even though I also have Original Sin on PC I think I'm grabbing it for PS4 also.

I totally forgot the console release on this. Even though I'm still playing the witcher and FO4 comes soon I went ahead and used some BB credit on this. I usually play two or three games of different genres concurrently and this should fit into my rotation somewhere.

                          This game looks really cool.

Years ago, I had a buddy who had the original for his PC and thought the game was really interesting.

I also like the turn-based combat similar to X-Com's.

I might have to pick this up for the PS4.

Question for those who have it, will it be overwhelming for those who never even played the first one?

Just got this for XBOX1 couple weeks ago cause I loved X-Com (played thru the last one multiple times and on ironman). It's kind of a mix of fallout story and X-Com gameplay imo. I am having some tough encounters right away tho. This game doesn't hold your hand like other games but the story seems really good and has alot of depth to it so far. Had to go down from default difficulty to Rookie. Figure I will go back up when I get more battle experience. So in short I would say much more story than X-Com and Battles are tougher for me.

If you do get it, make sure you talk to everyone in the first area(Ranger Citadel). I didn't and left out into the wastelands with a party of 4. Found out later it could of been a party of 5 if I would had talked to everyone (specifically one person) before I left. Made combat much tougher in the beginning. Like I said, game doesn't hold your hand.

The game is sweet. I would have loved to have an ironman mode for this like on X-Com, but I am pretty certain there is no way to make it through without re-loading. So many twists and turns and some really tough encounters.

My first play through I left the citadel with a party of 4 and it was almost impossible. There are some nasty things at the AG center.

I had the original for the commodore 64 way back in the day, my buddy and I solved it over summer vacation. It literally took all summer, we'd play baseball until dark and then play wasteland until 3am. Wasteland 2 is hard, the original wasteland was bordering on insanity because you could only save the game at random times and you could get utterly screwed. It was like an ironman to some extent. Still ranks as my best video game experience ever. This was before the internet so there was no way to get spoilers or walkthroughs or anything like that so finally defeating that game so satisfying.

25 years later Wasteland 2 comes out and it didn't disappoint although there was never the same sense of urgency because you can save and reload at any time. But it was still awesome.
