Re: How many "Total War" gamers are on OS?
I usually play Divide Et Impera, but I'm having a blast playing the new Augustus Campaign on vanilla Rome 2.
I'm playing as Marc Antony. My Empire stretches from Carthage, around Alexandria, Jersualem, Greece, and now my legions have just taken over Rome from Octavian's legions.
I'm also beating back the Parthians and Persians in the East. Octavian is busy with the Barbarians in Europe, while Lepidas and Pompey are duking it out in Western Africa and Spain.AUBURN TIGERS

Re: How many "Total War" gamers are on OS?
Empire is Awesome. I play basically Vanilla, but have a no walls mod, Bran MacBorns AI mod, and Ornamentum mod.
The Ornamentum mod adds a lot of nice high quality units.
Its a great way to play without having to upload the large cumbersome mods that add some things I don't care for.
The no walls Mod really helps, you don't have the boring city sieges that IMO ruin the game. All open field battles or when defending cities, no walls but plenty of buildings to use as cover or garrison. Brans AI mod really helps the AI function better, flank and keep their lines. Also adds a lot of Naval invasions. It adds a lot of strategy. With no city walls you can't just leave a few units in the city to defend against a full stack of AI units. You really have to pick and chose wear you want to concentrate your armies.
The Colonial wars are excellent whether it be in America or India. My only complaint with Empire is that its rare for European Nations to try to take India. But the Maratha make it plenty challenging to try to own that sub continent. Major resource drain and if they get the upperhand, they will try to expand in a major way.Chalepa Ta Kala.....Comment

Re: How many "Total War" gamers are on OS?
I played Rome Total War a lot but way after release, like 2012, I loved it! Then I played Shogun 2 all the way through, I initially didn't care for it too much because gameplay mechanics were pretty different to Rome but I came back to it about a month later and really got into it. I love Japanese Culture so I enjoyed playing through that.
I bought Rome 2 a little after release and I didn't have many technical issues but I couldn't really dedicate the time to it, so I've never really gotten into it. I may give it another try at some point.
A minor thing I don' like about the series is that it's impossible to work the diplomatic system to "win the game". I mean I get it, the series is called Total War and those aspects are fun. It would add another dynamic aspect though if there were different ways to go about winning. I guess some of the other turn based strategy games are better for that.Comment

Re: How many "Total War" gamers are on OS?
SEGA and The Creative Assembly today released the first gameplay trailer for Total War: ARENA, showing exclusive Alpha footage. There's a scheduled streaming set for tomorrow. Availability maybe difficult with this holiday weekend but love to hear details if someone does tune in.
