S-Video for PS2 ?

I know people have asked about what cable is best but the only option I have is to go to S-Video so basically all I wanna know is can I get away with the $6 one from Wal Mart or do I need to get the $30 one and how much of a difference is between the two in quality and how much of an upgrade from RCA cables is the cheap S-Video cable

    thanks for any help

    Component > SVIDEO > RCA.

You're getting a very nice upgrade going from SVIDEO to RCA. There is alot of discussion regarding which cables you should buy. You can really go anywhere from $6 to $99 with cables. First off, what type of TV do you have? If you have a larger, more detailed screen, you might want to go with the more expensive cable. If you're working off something smaller, I think the $6 will be fine. And if you're not really fussy, the $6 will work fine with any tv you have. It really depends how much you have to spend, and how picky you are.

Either way, the $6 cable will be a signifigant upgrade from your RCA cable.

Yeah, just go get the basic cable and use the money you saved on a game or extra memory card.

                      Re: S-Video for PS2 ?

I always buy the cheap generic cables because they tend to break under the same wear and tear.

I remember reading an article on slashdot.org about cable values a while back (maybe a year or two ago?). The conclusion was that the S-video was the best cable value for gaming. The jump from RCA to S-video was second only to the jump from coax to RCA, where you should never get coax unless you're forced to.
