As a word of caution to anyone who's going to buy an s-video cable .. be really careful when you're trying to plug it into the slot on your TV .. the pins are really fragile and bend/break very, very easily! Take it from someone who broke one the day after he bought one. The new one I have stays plugged in to the TV at all times. I'm not gonna risk having to try to plug it in again.

As far as improved quality .. I'd say it's 100% better. It's especially noticeable when looking at text on the screen. Crystal clear. We just got a widescreen HDTV so the generic PS2 cable just didn't cut it. I bought the madcatz version and it's just fine.

I bought a cheap "universal" MadCatz S-Video cable for around 10 bucks a while ago for use with my PS2 and the picture quality really takes a leap up, particularly in sharpness. That is the biggest difference, clarity and sharpness.

I use Component RGB cables for my XBox and I can't imagine using anything else short of having an HDTV.
