    Loyalty Program

Could sports game companies make more money if they had a Loyalty program? Say giving $25.00 off for trading in the last years game for the new years version while charging the normal price for new comers.

How many people buy their sports games bi yearly or later? If people had a chance to pay $35.00 yearly for their games would they? How many more sales did Naughty Dog get for the The Last of Us on the ps4 trade in?

It sounds like it could be a win win situation. Where a lot more people would commit to getting the games every year to get the discount, because if they skip a year they'd have to pay the full price of the game. Plus the companies get profit each year with more people returning and more people buying directly from them instead of getting them used, and cheaper on bidding sites.

The same people are buying the game year after year for the full price, what does the company benefit from giving people money off?

I can see both sides, I used to buy NCAA, Madden, NBA 2k, NHL, and The Show every year but I've pretty much given up on sports games at this point, I haven't bought Madden since about 2010, bought NBA 2k for the first time last year in about 4 years, haven't got The Show the past couple years, so the only sports game I buy yearly is NHL and I'm fine with paying the full price because I like hockey games. (I'll probably get back into The Show passed on that due to a lack of time more than anything past two years)

I would probably be more inclined to purchase Madden and NBA 2k if there were an incentive like that but like you said the majority of their buyers purchase yearly anyway so the ones like myself probably wouldn't add all that much when you're looking at the discounts you're giving to all your people who purchase at full price yearly on top of it.

This is what I was saying(in the picture below). If you get more people coming back and new people buying into it you get more sales. I didn't think about the billion dollars they make with hut and the card packs people spend money on in those games. I was just thinking that if they gave a discount for people coming back yearly they would have more people buying the game and new fans coming along.

        The Maddens i got from ps3 and up not counting Sega are 06, 10,14 and 15. Nhl 06, 09, 10,11,13 and 15. The show I think 06 if I'm thinking right, 09, 10, 12, 13 and 14. 13 was on sale for 30 dollars.
Dell gives preorder codes for 25 dollars and I've been getting games from them that I would of normally waited on. I got madden 15 with the 25 dollar coupon too.

Given the economy and a console transition that's a pretty nice graph.

EA Access (discounts, for subscribing) and MUT packs are the closest you'll get to loyalty programs, there's little need to do more than that.
