Which of these consoles are most worth investing in?

I'm deciding wether to get either a XBox or a Gamecube. My brother already owns a PS2, but I can not make up my mind of an Xbox or Gamecube. I would like to get either one of them, but from I've been told neither will be backwards compatible with the next gen systems.

If I do get an Xbox do I have to use a credit card to get Xbox live? Or does those things they sell in the store come with an activation code or something?

It depends on what kind of games you play. If you play mostly sports games, definitely get the XBox. If you're really into the Nintendo games, well then there's only one place you can play those.

I own both (as well as a PS2), and the XBox gets the majority of my time. But I play mostly sports games. I think the GameCube is a great system for the price, but so many 3rd party developers (specifically sports games) have abandoned it that I rarely play it anymore.

As I said before. If Nintendo games are a big deal to you, get the Cube. Otherwise, the Box is the way to go. Just my opinion.

It's your decision man, don't ask people on here, most of them will just tell you the system they own is the one to get. Rent them both, and decide which one you like best.

After weighing the facts and looking at the game selections on game review websites I think I'm going to get an Xbox. Just for the fact that I'm more into sports games and the GC seems to not have that many developers. And I already have owned one of those, but have never owned a XBox.
