Will we ever get a true fighting game?
Games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat rehashed to death I yearn for a open environment fighting game with the depth of those two games. Do you guys think there will ever be an open environment fighting game?

I thought Sleeping Dogs did a great job with the fighting aspect of the game. Despite the fact that it wasn't a fighting game in the traditional sense.
I wouldn't mind seeing a nice 3D environment with a full roster of customizable fighters and fighting styles.

Are you saying it's open-environment but still 1-on-1 like SF. Or are you saying you want an open-world game where it's more Streets of Rage but just full-up on deep mechanics like SF?
I think it's an interesting concept, but would you want it to go the UFC route and be 3D or still be 2D or faux 3D like Street Fighter?I won't ask for Christmas or birthday gifts if you subscribe to the Operation Sports Newsletter (Not Just Another Roster Update). What do you mean by "true" fighting game? What matters the most to you?
Is it expert timing of precision inputs to pull off great combos against equally skilled opponents? Go for the Mortal Kombat 2011 / Mortal Kombat X, Street Fighter V, or Tekken 7. DiveKick and BlazBlue are two other niche examples which are highly regarded.
Looking for a open world brawling game where you take on opponents from all angles and perform over-the-top moves to dispatch all of them? The one versus example I can think of is Power Stone for the Sega Dreamcast, but I think to an extent games like Batman Arkham (entire series), God of War, and Bayonetta also fit this bill.
Want something that has licensed real-world characters? Go for UFC or WWE 2K.Comment

I really enjoyed The Batman series fight mechanics. The Ninja Gaiden fight mechanics were off the charts. That game was so fun, challenging, and semi open world.
This may be off topic, but I would love to see an old school TMNT cartoon, Arkham City type fighter, with ninja gaiden move mechanics. Pure heaven
