Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
Console games can definitely be a little complex and/or difficult to pick in many instances...
That's why god invented mobile phone games, facebook, and reality tv.
I thought we had a deal with these people.. I don't go on facebook and give people **** for posting stupid memes all day, so you people stay the **** away from my video games. Yes, they can be difficult to learn. But sometimes you actually have to invest some of your own precious time into a medium to get the most of of it.Now, more than everComment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
This is my biggest complaint with most games today. Give me a damn manual so I have something to reference and just throw me into the ****-storm of a story you have cooking. I feel like it takes 2-3 hours of set-up and hand-holding just to show basic run/sprint, melee, shoot/reload controls. They take literally 5 seconds to figure out on your own.
I'm actually one of the people EA is talking about.
I'm lucky if I have 2 to 3 hours of free time to game per week. When I do, I hate wasting most of that time just getting setup and learning the controls and variances.
It's a bit bittersweet with how complex some of today's games have become.
I would have LOVED this level of depth when I was in highschool/college. Endless time to really dive in and enjoy what these games have to offer.
Some of the sports franchise modes in particular come to mind.
I would have loved to deal with hotdog prices and constructing new stadiums back in the day.
But now, I barely have time to get one or two games in let alone investigate my minor league systems or set ticket prices.
Maybe when my kids go to college I'll be able to enjoy this level of depth again, haha.Comment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
I was just trying to be funny, obviously I wasn't as my response didn't come out too coherent.
This was just something my uncle always told me when I would complain about something. I thought of this comment when I read the article. If a game is too hard, don't play it. I don't want a game too easy, I like the challenge.Last edited by Hammerhunker; 02-15-2015, 10:27 AM.Comment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
This is just an excuse. EA is just afraid to raise the bar or is incompetent in making realistic games so they lean to making arcadey games. Just look at Madden its been garbage for years in terms of sim football and FIFA which is better than Madden isn't sim soccer. Dont let me begin with NBA live.Comment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
Why is this sim BS even in this thread? It has nothing at all to do with the comment by the ea exec. Same with all the comments about people not wanting games to be easy. Games can be hard, games can be Sim, without needing to spend 30 hours just learning how to control the thing and without reinventing the wheel with every game.Comment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
The wussification of the USA has now creeped it's way into console video gaming.
Dear lord. What are coming to. Let's just dumb down everything.
Could you imagine kids today trying to play NES Ninja Gaiden? No saves, 3 lives. You die you begin the level all over again.
Anyway.Last edited by PPerfect_CJ; 02-20-2015, 11:31 AM.#LFC

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
I guess a lot differs depending on the genre too. While sports games have gotten more complicated, say, take RPGs (at least most all of the AAA/mainstream stuff)...they've gotten more dumbed down.Comment

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
Because EA are known to make sports games and we want their sports games to feel sim and it hasn't come close especially with the big budget they have. People like you are the reason why they dumb down their sports games.
Btw I play sports. Does that mean I can't play sports video games that is close to the real thing?Last edited by UWfan206; 02-21-2015, 03:02 AM.Comment

I don't think sports games have been dumb down. They are much more complicated than they used to be.
Look at 2K15. It took me a few games to even figure out what I was doing. I had to google how to make a 3 pointer cuz I couldn't figure it out. You used to just hit the circle button but now you gotta move the sticks in certain directions.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks

You can use face buttons to shoot. By default on my xbox controller, it's the X button.PS: You guys are great.

Re: EA Exec: "Our Games Are Too Hard To Learn"
To be fair, you're replying to a comment about the dumbing down of sports titles, specifically by EA and defending them by using 2K as an example. 2K caters more to the sim crowd. EA definitely caters more to the casual/arcade game type.

EA is the same way. Their games have gotten more complex but so have controllers.MLB: Texas Rangers

NBA: Dallas Mavericks
