Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
I guess Best Buy is trying to be as crappy as Amazon. UGH.
Why have these benefits/promotions if you're only going to put restrictions on them???Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
No one was spending $120 and even when it was discounted to $60, it didn't sell. Amazon Prime is $100 for one year and granted, while it may give you extra benefits, GCU blows it away in my opinion but if Best Buy starts eliminating benefits then that could quickly change.Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
I am not arguing that point. I am just saying that you figured that they would slowly start to take some perks away from the program since it is cheaper. I think it is still a great deal with the fact that you are getting the membership for two years and 20 % off almost all of the time.
To me, it's an unnecessary change and one that could backfire. To me, when a store/company does a club/membership, they need to set it the way they want from the start as opposed to revising and changing stuff because all that does is piss people off.
Increasing the price to $50 for two years would have been a better move because if the discount still applies on Black Friday, the consumer/gamer is more likely to spend more. Now, I may just say screw Black Friday and for the "lesser" games, just wait for a cheap sale that still allows the 20% off.
I'm a big fan of Best Buy and love GCU especially compared to Amazon Prime and GameStop PUR but it's still bull crap that they eliminated one of the biggest positives and draws to the club/membership.
Hopefully, they rethink this and change it once Black Friday gets closer because im going to guess that their game sales will be less on Black Friday than what they would be if GCU applies.
But whatever, every time something is good, it always eventually gets changed for the worse and it's like, why even bother in the first place? SMH.Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
In fairness, Black Friday prices usually aren't a one-time thing. Those prices often get repeated throughout the year, and you can even find better prices at other times if you're paying attention. In other words, Black Friday isn't that special anymore - though I do agree that taking perks away from the GCU program is not ideal. If they and Amazon have an equal price on Black Friday, now I'll be shopping at Amazon instead, because AFAIK their 20% discount will still apply.
Best Buy alienating even some of their consumers on the biggest shopping day of the year seems like a mistake even if they think it will cost them less money (which is the only reason they would have for doing this).Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
Well Best Buy has to make money for these benefits to work. They probably realized they are losing a lot of money with some of these extended sales. I figured GCU was too good of a deal to last before Best Buy starts slowly taking stuff away. Besides even with the changes Best Buy is still the better deal.MLB: Texas Rangers
Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
NCAA: SMU, UTA
NFL: Dallas Cowboys
NHL: Dallas Stars
NBA: Dallas Mavericks

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
I remember posting how they were not allowing some like price match to go through during black friday sales as well.
I ended up going to lamestop when I didn't want to because they weren't willing to pass a simple sale on to me.Comment

But it does suck from a consumer POV that they are taking away this option. But I completely understand why they are doing it. Like Dickey said they are probably losing money when you buy a new game like NBA, NHL, or Madden on BF at BB with GCU. You are getting the game for about half price at that point. Because iirc the games were on sale for like $35-40 last year, but I could be wrong on that.Comment

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
Only losing money on the power users, keeping the price as is and curbing some of the deal stacking will only churn those who most took advantage of the program, if that.

Re: The Official Best Buy Gamers Club Thread
Eh, not gonna freak out over the loss of Black Friday discounts. I'll still be able to sell the game back during a 50% bonus and it only cost me $4 total.
I'll take getting pretty much any new game I want for $38.Comment
