Just got DDR!

Okay, I just picked up Dance Dance Revolution for my girl's birthday for her. I didn't think that I would like it, but I love this game. It is addicting as can be, and extremely fun. I am getting ready to go online and download some of the new songs/dances.

Does anybody play this, and are there any good songs to download?

Whats the big fuss over this game? Is it just hitting certain spots on a pad that you lay on the floor???

Yeah, but some of the combinations on this game can be rather difficult. I guess I like it because I like a challenge, and this game is definately a challenge. I am doing a lot better than I thought I would because I can't dance very well, but when you get into the game, you just kind of forget that you can't dance, :y4:

You should at least play it once. I didn't think I would enjoy it, but it is addicting. Would I do it in public at an arcade.....NO.... It is fun, but not worth embarrassing myself over.

This series is an absolute blast. It's great to go on a date with some new chick, introduce her to DDR at the arcades, then proceed to make fools out of yourselves. I'm 3-3 when it comes to using that to get some chick into you... scary how it works...

I have every single american version released and about 90% of the imports. Really great stuff. Hell, I've even built a metal pad myself and set it up at home:



And if you're that homophobic and insecure in yourself that you can't play a game where you step on arrows on a pad, that's pretty sad.

So far I am having a blast with this game though. It is the DDR Ultramix version. I have worked my way through the first 6 challenges, and am taking a break for the afternoon. But I am having a good time. It's the best birthday present I've ever bought for somone :y4:

i have ddr and stepmaniax and friends come over and have a blast with it.
There are 2 ways to play this though

there is the way of playing called "freestyle" which is basically you dancing with your moves to a slow song( by slow meaning something you can follow). This is what people normally think of when they first see ddr.

then there is the regular way of playing it. Hit the arrows as they go up. Once you get to the higher levels this becomes MUCH more dificult than the game appears to be. Try max300 a few times on catastrophic and you'll probably break a hip if you arent careful :y4:

I can't believe how much fun I am having with this game. I'm not the least bit graceful, so normally I wouldn't be able to dance, but there are a few of the songs that I get into a good rythym, and can really flow.
