State of Decay: Year One Survival Edition (X1)

    Fellas,

I don't even own an Xbox-One, but anyone planning on picking this one up on 4/28?

*The reviews for the original in 2013 were great and it's an intriguing game (imo) ....question is....due to it's Microsoft exclusivity, is it worth an XBOX-ONE purchase?

I had never played a zombie game until I caved on Dying Light. I loved it and just read the review on the original version of this, and will be picking it up. 30 dollars seems like a steal.

I played this over at PAX East awhile back. It is pretty much the same game as 360 + DLC. The framerate this time around seemed to be better as I hadn't noticed any drops while I played. They also added a new character to play as if you upgraded the 360 version. If you have this game already, I don't see the need to purchase it again unless you loved it the first time around.

This was a decent game and all that, but definitely not one to buy a console for.

Thought this game would get more traction on these boards, but maybe it's because it is a 2 year old, last gen game. By the time it was out on 360 I had already sold mine so I never had the chance to play it - so I am intrigued, but it's getting pretty crappy reviews so far so I am considering cancelling my pre-order.

I understand the "forget about the reviews, play it for yourself" argument. But when all of the bad reviews point out the same issues - graphical hiccups, framerate issues, bad animations, repetitive missions, etc... My time is valuable these days as I don't have as much time to play games. I am really trying to make an effort this year to buy top quality games and avoid impulse buys.

What are your impressions of the game on the PC and 360? Is it worth it for a slightly remastered rendition of the original on XBO?

I didn't care for the 360 version at all. It was a good premise that I thought fell apart as it went on. The game was always more of a test for their eventual MMO RPG so I assume the remaster is continuing to build capital for that.

I really enjoyed it on the 360. It was surprisingly good, and kept me entertained for along time. Since you get 33% off if you bought it the first time, I'll be picking this up tomorrow.

Decided to pick this up anyway to hold me over till The Witcher is out. So far I am glad I did. It has a different feel than most open world games, or even zombie games for that matter because of the resource and survivor management you are responsible for. I have already had to make some tough decisions and I am only 2 hours into the game.

It's lacking in the graphics dept and the animations and melee mechanics could be better. Wish it had an upgradeable melee system like Dying Light that would unlock different moves as you get deeper into the game. But overall, I am enjoying it.

it does have upgradeable moves that improve as you get better at certain aspects of fighting. as you level up in combat, you can select utility skills and upgraded moves.

Yeah, have the PC version that was fun, but rough. Might consider Xbox One remaster on a price drop, but probably just play other newer games to be honest...

I just don't have the time anymore.

Ahhhh, had no idea. Thanks for clarifying. Should have read up a bit more on the subject

no worries, it's an easy thing to miss. hope i was somewhat helpful in terms of where to find it as you go on, it's pretty fun to get the heavy weapons upgrade and chop off the legs of every surrounding zombie with one move.

I "love" how I can get a headshot with a shotgun on the 2nd floor of a house by shooting a zombie who is outside.

This is a fun game but the lack of polish is very noticeable. While I understand its this independent effort and whatnot, I just can't look past it too much.

This. I really wanted to enjoy this game, with its focus on survival as much as action. But it became a tedious chore to play. Traded it in a few weeks later...
