Just a convoluted mess of a game. There was a an article posted somewhere in this thread about the chaos during the making of it. Great read.

    Man ...

I haven't done it yet, and probably will with a Black Friday purchase. Having platinumed the second and holding the same revere for the trilogy that you have, I feel like I'm headed for the same disappointment. I guess I'll just have to get it out of my system shortly to confirm or deny.

Why wait for Black Friday to check it out? The game is always on sale for $20 Canadian over here lol. I'm not sure it can go much lower.

        Re: Mass Effect: Andromeda

Finally got around to playing and beating this game. Even after the patch, game is still buggy in places. Few of the side quests won't load, couple won't complete. Game didn't feel like you were in charge, felt more like you were a private. Game is ultra repetitive. Spend way too much of the game on just 2 planets. Got tired going back to the same places over and over again. The whole vault rest thing with puzzles was just flat out annoying too. I didn't buy this game just to do puzzles every time I turned around. Best part of the game was the last mission. It was straight forward with no puzzle BS. You hit a button and stuff just WORKED. Didn't have to scan anything, trace anything, climb anything or do a puzzle to get a door open. Puzzles should be banned from non puzzle themed games.

I felt the game was extremely shallow and hollow. Didn't feel a connection to anybody or anything. The story dragged and most of the side quests were annoying. I wish the entire game was like the last mission. The last mission was the only time in the game I felt like I was actually part of a team of people. Despite the size of the territory of the galaxy, game felt too linear. You suppose be the leader, but you really aren't allowed to lead anything. That was a bummer. I wanted more say of how things ran, what went where, etc. Through out the game I kept saying to myself, am I a Pathfinder or an E1 private. Because how the game flows, you basically are an E1 private.

Game was too much like Mass Effect 1. It should have been more like Mass Effect 2. More action, more choices etc. Overall I give this game a 6 out of 10. The story just didn't flow well, it was all over the place. Also hated the fact that you are in a new galaxy but yet only see 2 new alien races.......Like come on......

I grabbed this last night for 10$ in the PS Store. I heard it was terrible but for 10 bucks, why not? It's huge (like 64gb or something, even though it says it needs 53, IIRC) so I let it download all night. Man, I have been playing this game all day. I just made my decision on what i wanted the first colony to prioritize between military or science. I'm really enjoying it so far. I can't wait to go back to the Nexus and see what happens next with the first murder side story. It's really making me scratch my head. Early verdict though is I'm getting major value with this one...

$10 steal. I get SOME of the hate at launch but after the last patch, it’s a solid game. Much better than the web would have you believe. Have you played the original games?

I played maybe an hour of the first ME through EA Access a year or so ago. I never did get into ME last gen. So its all really new to me. I saw the bad reviews and stuff but I've been lost in this game all day. That's enough for me to know It's a good one. There's just so much I want to explore and learn. I'll trade perfect facial animations for options and a branch points. I stop and talk to everyone and ask every question. Lol

I hope you enjoy it. It was actually my favorite game of 2017. I’ve beaten it at least 8 or 9 times. I’m currently playing Horizon Zero Dawn but I’ll probably play through this again before moving on to Assassin’s Creed: Origins.

I played through ME-ME3 two times.

I loved the series. I picked this up for $15 bucks on Black Friday. I have it in the que. Once I complete The Witcher III this will be my next massive open world game I take on.

It's good that you didn't play much of the original trilogy. It's not true of everyone, but many people were unable to put aside their good and bad feelings about the trilogy when playing Andromeda. The facial animations were just the match that lit the fuse of a fan base primed to go off for a myriad of reasons.

Do this today: Instead of $%*#!@& on a game you're not going to play or movie you're not going to watch, say something good about a piece of media you're excited about.

Do the same thing tomorrow. And the next. Now do it forever.

My litmus test is pretty simple. If I get lost in the game, it's good. I don't care what the consensus is on it. I saw Horizon on sale over the Christmas break for 20$, I'm gonna snatch it up the next time I catch it on sale. I'm deleting games left and right on my poor PS4 because of the great games at great prices. AC Origins is awesome, too.

I get that. I understand that it was one of the bigger franchises out there with a large dedicated fan base. The game today is probably in much better shape than it was at release. At 5 or 10 bucks though the cheapskate in me can't resist. Lol. It also helps that the games are good. I bought The Order: 1886 (along with Knack), another panned game, for 5 bucks a year ago and it to this day is the most visually stunning game I have ever played. If there is a sequel, I'm preordering! I tend not to look too deep into games now a days. If it hooks me In for hours, I'm in. Especially now with the focus trending more towards online stuff. I'm a dinosaur. If it sucks I've only wasted the equivalent of lunch.

I mean it’s fine for 10$ but they seriously destroyed one of the best IPs ever. I mean when the dev team instantly cancels Single player DLC and also say there will be no sequels within the first month, ya know it went wrong.

They put all their resources into Anthem and outsourced some of the development.

I didn't hate the game at all but you could tell they were not 100% focused on ME.

Well why not? Mass Effect was probably one of the most cherished IPs in video games. Why would you destroy it like that? BioWare is a mess right now.
