I haven't played it on a 1080p display but on my ks8000 it looks incredible. I've never taken so many pics while playing a game before as much as this one.

PhotoMode should be the standard and ready by launch (at least for all Sony's first party titles).

Also, I know there probably won't be any DLC but I would seriously take a pack of just Cauldrons - the set piece designs are amazing and also great to comb through for those nice loot boxes.

      Game is so good.

I hate that machine in the quarry. The Thunderjaw was easier than that thing.

Level 25 now and i haven't made a single step forward in the main quest. I got distracted trying to get all the legendary armor and weapons I was hunting everything in sight.

I'm the same. I get so easily distracted by side missions. I played for about 4 hours last night and only got 2 missions of any kind done.

I really hope we get DLC. I'm 38 hours in and less than 30 percent complete. I don't want this game to end

I think you'll be impressed. There can be definitely be debates over how this game stacks up against Witcher 3, or other top titles, but I think it can almost universally be agreed on that this is a game worth owning for PS4 gamers.

                      Horizon: Zero Dawn

I've never played the witcher. I tried 2 but I couldn't get into the Combat system. Hooked on this game though.

Im having trouble finding mats to make my tear blast arrows right now. So it's making the big guys hard to deal with. I've been sneaking by them last couple play sessions.

Not to derail the thread, but just wanna say that I highly recommend you Che k out Witcher 3 if you get a chance. It's worlds apart from the first two games. I didn't like the first two games much at all, the third one is its own beast. One of my all time favorite gaming experiences

As far as mats. I am always low on fatty meat and wire: no matter what. I go through it like crazy

The main difference for me between this and W3, and it's big, the witcher game world is so much more alive and lived in. HZD map is huge and there's pockets of people here and there but you don't really run into much in the wilds besides machines, foxes and the occasional collectable.

W3 had new encounters around every bend. Side quests galore to help you explore the world. HZD, not so much.

My original reply regarding HZD vs W3 ended up being wayyyyy too long so I scrapped it. I figured ain't nobody got time for that. I just really adore both games and feel strongly about both of them.

To keep it as simple as possible, here is my personal opinion:

In my perspective, just for me personally, I have a hard time comparing the two because I don't think it's necessarily a 1:1 comparison.

I feel like W3 is a straight up, full fledged, fully fleshed out RPG. It is a gold standard for content variety, choices/decision making shaping the world/story, dialogue/NPC interaction, and questing. The Bloody Baron side quest in W3 is better than 90 percent of main storylines of other games I play. I feel like W3 is primarily an RPG with action-adventure elements.

To me, again just my opinion, HZD is an action-adventure game primarily with RPG elements. W3 is about writing your own story of Geralt. HZD is about living through and experiencing Aloy's story for yourself. HZD does handle that action-adventure primary emphasis in ways that beat W3 IMO, but W3 has RPG elements that HZD falls below too. Just depends on your preference.

W3 had great DLC, and NG+ mode, just offering hundreds upon hundreds of hours of playtime. HZD might not end up with either of those but still offers a tremendous amount of content in its own right, but maybe in a more linear story based way.

Either way, you can't go wrong. I will remember both these games for the rest of my life, truly. Right now I would probably rate Witcher 3 a 9.6, and this game would be a 9.4. I still have so much more to play though, so who knows.

Sorry if this was long-winded or nonsensical. It sounded ok when I read it back to myself but I am biased.

Also, the side quests were more interesting in Witcher - that game put the "quest" in side quest. In Horizon you get a bit of lore and map exploration, but there's not much to suck you into them. At least so far - I'm around 10 hours in.
