Yeah i don't get that either. 4k gaming is the future. Whether or not this game realizes the future as present or not is fairly well nt make or break the system as a whole at all.

      Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

In regards to sales, it will and 4K is still at least five years away from truly being relevant. The Pro is under 500K in sales for November and December. Horizon is what will truly make or break the Pro. If the Pro can't sell better once Horizon gets released, it will basically break it in regards to whether or not it's a success. It's all about money and sales. That's all Sony cares about. 500K in two months isn't going to cut it. Be advised that im only talking about the Pro itself.

          Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I was extremely interested in the game but do not like the color palette.

its much too orange and fall colors for me

For some this doesnt matter but for me it does

also game is drawing comparisons to far cry and rise of the tomb raider.

both games i did not like.

as far cry was to similar in its island setting and rise of the tomb raider was not at all as good as the first tomb raider reboot

also comes out RIGHT UP against Breath of The Wild and im sorry a new Zelda completely overshadows this

this is just my opinion though

game will be a system seller for sure

The idea that a mid-gen console was actually a good idea. It's only a good idea if it sells and like PSVR, the Pro isn't selling. It doesn't matter if you love or hate either to Sony. All that matters is sales and not shipped either. Mid gen consoles was and still is a horrible idea. Wasn't needed. Wasn't asked for. 4K/HDR is awesome but not $1200+ awesome for majority of consumers.

The whole 4K/HDR rush job should have been held back until PlayStation 5. Same with PSVR. Just too much at one time and when you add it all up, it's a small fortune and even if you can easily afford it all, that doesn't mean that you're going to run out and buy it all.

Personally, I have no complaints with Pro. It cost me $5 plus tax so around $40. Can't complain about that whatsoever and going in, I knew that the first major title using 4K checkerboarding and HDR was going to be Horizon for me. Granted, there's a few other games that have implemented this stuff via a patch but im talking about it being on the disc, implemented in the game and hopefully used correctly and to it's fullest extent.

Horizon is also going to be Sony's number one major franchise/IP going forward as it is seen as their best exclusive out of them all in development. Sony is extremely high on it and if this game can't sell people on PRO and in turn, a 4KTV, it will be seen as a disappointment for them in regards to the PRO. Horizon itself should sell great in my opinion and easily establish itself as their next huge franchise IP.

Even if it doesn't move PRO skus - its not like Sony is going to abandon the new features they added when they come out with the PS5.

Not to mention plenty of bigger and presumably better releases this year with HDR in mind that have more of a chance to move the needle in sales.

The color palette is because the area that has mostly been shown is the forest area and there's obviously a lot of trees. There's a lot of different areas that have only been shown in glimpses or pieces. Don't see the color palette staying that way for the entire game.

I love Far Cry 3/4/Primal and ROTTR. All four are great games with excellent gameplay. Horizon has like FIVE or more different games all combined in it. It's insane but perfect for me.

Why didn't you like ROTTR and FC?

Zelda and Horizon have a lot of the same elements in them. I do think that Zelda will review better and have a higher meta-critic but Horizon will outsell it. For me personally, with or without a Switch at launch, Horizon is ahead of Zelda on my play list. Hell, Zelda will be late spring/early summer game for me. LOL.

                    Re: Horizon: Zero Dawn

I don't agree that 4K is 5 years away at all. In two years I'm guessing every single TV made will be a 4K TV. The top TV makers are practically 4K exclusive on their large TVs already.

4K TV Content has been slow. Fibre optic TV will help that and streaming in 4K will become more popular. But it's not 5 years away. Much closer imo.

The mid-gen idea isn't a bad one if developers can easily up/down scale graphics like a PC. I think the big question is whether the PS4 Pro added enough power to be a success.

Never said that Sony would abandon any of it. No point in doing any of that. PS5 having it all is pretty much a given. I just think that it would have been a bigger deal and more impactful with launching PS5 than it is now because 4K/HDR is in it's infancy.

Agree with the bigger and hopefully better releases this year with 4Kc and HDR. I think that PRO sales will be slow until year's end when 2016 4KTV's get cleared out.

Well, hopefully this means they can work any kinks out and hit the ground running with the next launch rather than flounder around the first two years trying to get optimal games out.

No, what you said was that this release will "make or break the Pro". I 100% disagree with that statement.

I did say that and I stand by it. Horizon is the "big" mainstream title that should sell people on PS4 Pro but either way, Sony isn't going to stop manufacturing or selling Pro.
