I can't wait to try the story mode. Anyone played this game on the Xbox 1 S in HDR/4K mode?

Also horde mode is gunna be fun. Jarebare maybe we can play some day. I don't have many ppl to play this game on my Xbox.

I am addicted to Horde mode lol. Only thing that sucks is people always quit out very early or are being kicked from the server, I can't tell.

I have yet to dive into campaign other than the first 40 minutes or so but so far this game is already one of my favorite games of current gen. I put it right up there with Uncharted 4 as far as exclusives go.

Would be great to get a group of 5 together that can actually learn each other's play styles. You don't really need a mic just need to have a plan. I love this game but playing horde with randoms can be hilarious. I have a couple friends getting this game at launch that are into horde too.

having a mic in horde mode or competitive mode is over rated. As long as you have situational awareness and understand the gameplay and what needs to be done in order to be successful, then a mic is never needed.

Yeah. Since going scout I have had a much better time but 3 out of my 4 matches today ended up with me as scout and everyone else as engy. That probably isn't the best team composition lol. Plus a lot of randoms are clearly just new at the game/series and don't know that you can revive dead teammates with the tags as well as a number of other nuances, which is understandable, it has been 2 days. I also see a lot of power being wasted and then when we get to the boss waves we have no defenses set up, which kills me

Seems to me like every team needs at least one scout (2 is probably preferable), a good sniper, and then 2 of anything else.

To add to my last post, I feel like Engy is only worth it if you have sentry and turret discount cards upgraded a few times. Otherwise I would rather have a scout/soldier/heavy

I agree about horde but disagree to a degree on not needing a mic for competitive. You'll get away with it against weaker opponent's but when you go against better players or squads its key for call outs. Which enemy has the power weapon, if an enemy is behind a teammate, who's camping where and for ring based modes how many enemies are at the spot and located in which areas.

Spotting can only tag one enemy and if your not on the mic your teammates can't decipher whether it's a guy with a power weapon, camper or just a random spot.

Sorry for the long double post but copy and paste from ultimate thread

Tips for newcomers

1. Don't select the big bulky characters until you get the game down, they have bigger hit boxes and are easier to kill.

2. Close quarters, make use of the chainsaw on your Lancer if you can't switch to your shotgun in time, also melee with any other weapon you have out.

3. Hard aim the shotgun from a distance about 10 ft, never up close you want to make use of soft aim, quickly tap LT then RT to shoot until you get blind firing down.

4. Always flank the power weapons never go straight on from your spawn, more skilled players will be expecting you and normally go in two's so communicate with a member of your team to be your wingman. I repeat never ever go for a power weapon alone especially out the gate.

5. Most important one of them all, practice, practice and practice some more. Private matches against people on your friends list

6. Wall bouncing, make use of those beautiful maps and evade shots by sliding cover to cover. This one will take a while to get down, so make sure you try to learn it as much by doing number 5. (Plenty of tutorials on YouTube use gears 3 as a base) - Wall cancellation as well

7. Sensitivity settings, figure out what works best for you by testing it out. More of a support rifle player don't stray too far from the default settings, mix of both shotgun and rifle try mid twenties, all around player float towards 27-30.

8. This one is cheap but the vets will pre load actives on you, so make sure you practice perfect reloads it gives damage boost.

9. Always push the fight from your right side, never from the left it puts you at a disadvantage aim wise.

10. Don't keep the same play style across different game modes. Execution should be played more slow paced, sticking with teammates, mix of camping and flanking. TDM mix of execution and ring based games, sure you can fly around and respawn more then once but if you have another guy on the team doing the same your team will quickly be in a execution rules situation sooner than you think. Learn when to lay down support fire or to rush, see a teammate in a 2 on 1 lay down some support from your rifle or pistol. See a teammate fighting for a power weapon or 1 on 1 in general flank the enemy, rush straight on if you choose and help take the guy out.

I can't play gears pvp. It's just too frustrating for me but do people actually use rifles? I swear in all the matches I've played Ive only been killed with a gnasher.

Nice post cam. Very valuable information there. Pushing the the fight to the right and wall bouncing is something I'm still working on.

It takes some time even I mess up on the bounce here and there. Advance tip if your hanging off cover facing left hold down left trigger while pushing the left stick down diagonally to the left you'll come out of cover aiming from your left hand side at a quick advantage, let go of left trigger you'll quickly transit back to right side aiming quick tap right trigger for the finish.

That's gears for you, your bound to not see much rifle play unless your playing a complete five. It'll be just shotgun and enforcer combo for a while.

Oh I'm strictly horde mode. No plans on putting any time into pvp as of now.
