It was basically the first modern 3D open world video game. The level of detail and sheer depth of the game was far ahead of its time.

I thought it was a joke when I saw this game mentioned online. Needless to say I've been hoping for this for a long time and can't wait. I loved the first two games.

Next time I get paid I think I'm gonna donate 160 (considering I just ordered a new 2 tb hard drive for my PS4 gotta wait a lil) I am so freaking hyped for Shenmue 3 this is unreal

I never thought that Shenmue III would ever get released. I could not believe it. I know the game will not be out for a few years, but I cannot wait to play it. I always wanted closure to the story, and it seems like we finally will get it.

Apparently Yu Suzuki said he would need 10M to achieve everything he wants for Shenmue 3, it's possible but Kickstarters funding is really slowing down. I plan to gradually up my pledge to $500, but we'll see what happens.

I am kinda confused. I checked on the kickstarter the first day and saw that it would easily surpass 2m and then forgot about it.

I heard something about Sony lying or something like that and then I see the 10m quote but from what I read it isn't that they need 10m from the kickstarter, they had to use the kickstarter to prove to Sony that there was interest in the game and Sony would finance the rest or something like that?

Yu Suzuki made a recent post on reddit that was advertised on Kickstarter as a Q&A, basically saying that at 5 million he'll be able to do something that he has always wanted to do for the game, and at 10 million the game will truly be open world.

Sony's involvement is somewhat minimal, they aren't "funding" the game, and the Kickstarter wasn't Sony's way of gauging Shenmue 3's demand. Sony will help fund Shenmue 3's transition onto Ps4, and they'll help with advertising. However, Yu Suzuki has admitted that he has funding elsewhere but he wouldn't comment on who, or how much. So we can only assume he has already broken it down, and the 10 million truly open world game is on Kickstarter.

Obviously this Kickstarter is being ran horribly, and I'm wondering why Yu Suzuki doesn't continue the donation process after the 32 day Kickstarter deadline. If you're after 10 million, and believe 10 million will make your product the best, why shoot for 2 million? Less than a quarter of your true "goal."

YES! YES! YES! I played the hell out of Shenmue on Dreamcast. That game was so far ahead of its time. I still own it to this day. I never finished Shenmue II though, so hopefully I can catch up on the story some other way.

This is awesome news. The first game looked unbelievable graphics wise for its time, and I can only imagine how Shenmue III will look on PS4.

Agreed, the way the entire thing is being run is bad. I can understand people not wanting to disclose how much funding they've received outside of Kickstarter, but at least tell us how many corporations have funded so far. Shenmue the game is amazing, and a third installment is going to be great. But when you only disclose a select amount of information, but ask for 7 million more, don't expect to achieve that goal.

The stretch goals are ridiculous too, they provide very little insight and some are just additional languages. Kickstarter is like you're attempting to sell your game to a company with thousands of board members. No one would ever go into a meeting and provide three words for insight on an additional idea for the game.

The whole concept should be somewhat like let me see Yu Suzuki pitch his game to board members, and maybe I'll let you see my money. But I'm a fanboy and gave them my money anyway so shrug.

• $5.1 million: Portuguese language option.
• $6 million: Battle system expanded; advanced free battle.
• $6.5 million: Battle system expanded; ragdoll reaction.
• $7 million: Battle system expanded; AI battling.
• $7.5 million: Battle system expanded; high ground battle system.
• $8 million: Choubu area expanded; mini games x4.
• $8.25 million: Choubu area expanded; betting games x4.
• $8.5 million: Choubu area expanded; kung-fu mastery.
• $9 million: Choubu area expanded; part-time job.
• $10 million: Bailu village expanded; mini games x4.
• $10.25 million: Bailu village expanded; betting games x4.
• $10.5 million: Bailu village expanded; kung-fu mastery.
• $11 million: Bailu village expanded; magic maze.

Yea, they're a little high. His idea's are awesome, if the funding is met.
