I definitely get it though. Game just came out at a tough/crowded time. Hopefully if it gets a nice sale people will give it a look
You weren't pushy at all. I get defensive for some games too *coughTheOrder&MadMaxcough* and there's nothing wrong with that.

I enjoyed the demo a lot to where I wanted to play through it but the ending problem just turns me off to where it's like, "do I really want to spend time with this game knowing that the first two endings are similar and not really worth it?".

Based on the demo, I do think that Nier is definitely good but like you said, it came out at a horrible time. Like Yakuza and Nioh, Nier is a niche title and when stacked against Horizon, Zelda and others, these niche titles will only stand out to those who prefer them to begin with.

And yeah, just too many games. I eliminated Yakuza Zero, Nioh, most likely Nier and most likely Yooka Laylee off my list simply because there's other games that I only want to play a lot more but I also think are better games for me personally. Doesn't prevent those games from being good to great. Hope they all sell well.

I'm picking this up tomorrow, and I'm pretty excited. I have a few friends who are saying the game deserves all the praise it has received (2nd best rated 2017 PS4 game so far on Metacritic, one point below Horizon).

The game just seems to deliver a complete package from what I've seen - engaging combat, a good story, decent visuals, a great soundtrack, and nothing overly frustrating.

I think the story is the most underrated part of this great game.

        I Hope you enjoy it

Thanks man. Some of the reviews I've seen probably spoiled a few of the areas/moments I'll encounter, but I still really know nothing about the story.

Played the prologue and got up to the part where you adjust your game settings, etc. Definitely unique, original and innovative as just in that hour, I was playing a vertical shoot em' up, an overhead twin stick shooter and a plat-former with a lot of RPG elements. Boss fight(s) were cool. Visually, looks good. Music, sound and voice acting is also good. Gameplay is solid but coming off Horizon, just doesn't have that fluidness or responsiveness plus the camera can be a pain sometimes despite being able to customize it as well as where you're aiming. Definitely a good game but also definitely came out at a bad time and coming off of Horizon, im just not into the game. Granted, that probably has more to do with playing Horizon and fighting machines for 130 hours but im simply not feeling it. Sorry JareBear. Happy that you're enjoying the game and hope others that play the game do as well.

I played about 4 hours today and I can tell it'll be one of my favorites for 2017.

The combat is smooth and the genre mix keeps the game fresh. From how you customize your upgrades with chips to how they designed these boss fights (the ones I've faced so far were really fun fights), I appreciate the effort put forth with this game.

Yes, the story isn't the best out there, but it's worth giving a shot. I'm engaged and as stated in this thread, the story apparently completely kicks it up a notch in your third playthrough as the devs deliberately add content and clear things up for you at that point. Very odd format, but I'm excited to spend many hours to get there.

Highly recommend at least trying out the demo. In my opinion, I anticipate it'll basically be way better than how FFXV turned out and ultimately a worthy addition to the list of strong PS4 console exclusives.

                Re: Nier: Automata (PS4/PC)

Some of the sidequests in this game have pretty creepy storylines and I think they really complement the main story well. The main story itself is starting to grow on me. I'm 10 hours into my first playthrough now, although I'm not sure how much of it is remaining.

I gotta note how small the world map is, though. You end up going back and forth between these locations, but it certainly won't overwhelm you like these high budget games out right now and it gives you a chance to get to know some of these quest givers.

Sidenote: I've played a lot (by my standards) of this the past few days since I have a week long break, but seeing some posts (in other game threads) about playing for 5-7 straight hours without even realizing it is surprising to me since I feel like I have to take a break every couple hours.

So after finally being able to get this it's as amazing as I though it would be. Though on this first play through I got three bad endings unintentionally. Lol. One npc even TOLD me not to do a thing, and i did the thing anyway. So there's that

I've found a lance and specific sword that's become my favorite setup, and got chips that heal me as i damage enemies. Its great, though i did have to get the chips again as I died before being able to return to my body.

                  I love this damn game

If you have this game, I highly recommend getting up to this point - I'm honestly shocked.

I picked this up on the PS Store sale. So far it is amazing. Not too crazy about needing 3 playthroughs to get the "proper" ending, but the game really opens up after a while and is just plain fun.

I hope this game sold well, at least internationally. Creativity like this needs to be rewarded.

The game is great. I'm currently playing it on PC. If I understand it correctly there are different things about the playthroughs that make it not so repetitive.

Some of the creativity is top notch and really makes my jaw drop. This game is in my game of the year discussion so far and it's a shame that more people haven't played it.

By the end of April it had sold 630k copies globally. Not including digital sales.

Surpassed 1 million total if you count shipments and in general, I read an article that it exceeded Square Enix's expectations.

                            It's well-deserved.

That's great news. I'm happy for SE and for the people who've played the game. I wish more people would give it a go because there's really nothing like it.

Just got this today. I've heard nothing but good things, so I had grab it. I recently had a conversation with the most knowledgeable GameStop employee I've ever met in my life, and he did a good job of selling me on the story. Word of mouth seems to be helping this one.
