still waiting on IGN and Gamespot takes forever
into the first hour of it. Game is creepy , perhaps a bit moreso than the previous. Same mechanics as before. The apartment you are stuck in just gives you a feeling of dread. Those that enjoy the horror genre should pick it up.
Reviews will probably give it average scores. For some, not enough action, so it always scores lower than its rival sibling(RE).Again, one hour into it, so not much to say, but then again i enjoyed the previous versions.Last edited by Bacardi151; 09-08-2004, 06:49 AM.Comment

Hard to say
SH1 was super creepy since it was the first one. Real twisted game
SH2 i think was the best, had a great story, and you got immersed in the storyline.
never played sh3 (ps2 only)
currently on sh4. this one just gives you that claustophobic feeling of being trapped in that apartment.
SH > RE when it comes to psycological scares. Resident evil is more "BOO!!!" type scares, SH has you thinking about some of the crap you;ve seen even after you have put the game down
YMMV, but i think the series is great.Comment

Re: Where's the Silent Hill 4 reviews?
I enjoy the SH series, but I thought the third installment was not as good as the first two. It seems like in each new title, it becomes harder to fight. For example, I remember in the first one you could whack a midget-looking creature with a steel pipe. You could just whack one, then go to the next one to whack in a reasonable fight.
But in the second, and especially the third SH, it felt more like you were on the run more, and fighting wasn't worth it because it damaged too much of your character's life. Most creatures were too difficult to fight with a melee weapon. Other creatures took way too many hits to die, therefore making it smarter to elude rather than confront. But I prefer to fight rather than make a mad dash to the nearest exit.
I wish they would also fix the camera angle. Sometime its hard to see what is around you because the camera angle is misdirected.
But the horror storyline and crazy graphics are what keeps me playing. I'll play SH 4, but I am more looking forward to Resident Evil 4.Comment

Re: Where's the Silent Hill 4 reviews?
Barcardi, is this the scariest/creepiest game you've ever played? Moreso, than Fatal Frame...I read a review where the reviewer kept emphasizing its lack of fright...In other words...this is supposedly the least scariest of them all. Do you agree?Comment
