I never got a chance to play fatal frame, though i would like to pick it up. And i disagree that the game is not scary. It might not give you the same exact chills at the previous ones, but i for one love the feeling of fright that the game portrays. It might be different for different people, but i only play these types of games in the dark, at night, with surround sound. From the minute i turned it on, my heart was pounding. I havent gotten far enough into it to see if it will hold up as much as SH2 did for me ( i think SH2 was the best one in the series). Even the slight changes they have made havent bothered me such as only being able to carry a certain number of items and having to drop them off in the apartment, etc.

I still think the game is good and worthy of a purchase for anyone who enjoys the series.

Thanks for the response...I loved SH2, the game is still one of my favorites...I'm almost afraid of being let down by SH4. I too play the game like you...alone, in the dark, by myself. You say the game gives you a different sense of chills than in previous versions...What do you mean? Thanks.

not necessarily different chills. For instance, i do feel a bit claustophobic in that apartment. The beginning intro movie had a scene of the ghosts moving in black and white, and that has stayed in my head every time i think of the game now. The creepiness is still there, the very beginning when the credits begin to roll(wont say anything so as not to spoil it) got me right into the game, and the wife was into it too. Like i said, if you enjoyed the previous games, i dont think this will disapoint. If you gimme a couple of weeks to finish it, i might change my mind, but for now, IMO its a good purchase .

There's a demo in the Official Xbox Mag that gives you a taste of SH4. I like the first person view. To me, the 3rd person view is less scary because it detaches you from the character and the surroundings. But I also agree with Bacardi151 that SH is not about that type of scare anyway. It's almost like induced anxiety.

Decided to pick up fatal frame today. Got it for 10 bucks at gamestop. I gotta say, this game is quite creepy. Having to use a camera instead of a regular weapon throws a new spin on the standards used in survival horror games. I think movies and game in black and white depict the sense of fear best, and this game truly captures it. I love getting scared, and this game had really done that to another level. I am glad you mentioned it else i would have never picked this one up.

Yes, This game is incredibly scary...It gets more creepy the further you play...IMO, no game even comes close to this one in the fright department. Fatal Frame 2 comes out sometime soon...I think Nov.
