Best games I ever played that I look back on with satisfaction and truly felt like an achievement were the original Wasteland game for the Commodore 64. It took me and a buddy an entire Summer to finish that. We'd play baseball until dark and then come in and play through the night. He basically lived at my house.
Finishing X-Com:Enemy Within on Classic Iron Man was an awesome experience as well. In Ironman mode there is no reloading. Your squad member dies, they are dead forever. No reset, no second chance. One mission I got totally ambushed and the Aliens cut off the exit point. Squad members were falling. I was trying to save them all. It was so intense. My irreplaceable veteran sniper and 1 other made it out. The other 4 died. Plenty of Aliens still attacking the squad. It was tough leaving them behind. It was such an incredible battle. The Sniper who survived then went nuts on the Aliens when they invaded the base. Totally turned the tables on them. More games should have Ironman. Every movement has a consequence and it could be the last.
