So now that the movie has been nixed the script leaked and I have to say it's terrible. Kinda glad it didn't happen especially if we can get a better script down the line.
And speaking of a better script I read Nick Antosca's for the previously cancelled movie before the newer one and I thought it was fantastic. Captured the essence of the franchise perfectly.
I'd recommend reading both scripts if you are a fan.

The game will be at PAX East this weekend. I'm hoping we get a release date confirmation.
I'm sure the game will come out, but I'm getting a little worried about it missing the target of "Early 2017."

During the PAX East panel Ronnie Hobbs defined "Early 2017" as the first 1/3 of the year (Early, Mid, Late) so he said their target remains to release the game by the end of April.
He also said that console certification is the biggest obstacle at this point.
Personally, I'm skeptical that we'll see the game drop by the end of next month but I KNOW they are CLOSE (as evidenced by the inclusions of Jason from 8 and 9 in the above video).
Whatever the case, I'm ready and I like all the new kills in the new vid.Comment

I just hope this game is a sleeper like the Ghostbusters game from the PS3/Xbox 360 days when no one thought that game would be even fun. Great graphics and fun gameplay mixed in with decent locations and you had a game rated between 7 and 8. That's what I'm hoping will happen with this. I don't need a masterpiece but something that is fun and can atleast hold me over for a few hours.Comment

Sorry man, I just saw this. Its been about a month or so since I read the scripts so I'll try to remember the basics.
In the newest one that was cancelled, I remember it starts with a couple girls at the camp and about to go swimming and that stereotype we get for every movie and someone is after them and ends up chasing them up this tower that looks over the camp and he pulls one girl off the ladder and then throws the other off of the top. Turns out to be Jason's father. He is a groundskeeper I think. Basically they paint him as an abusive psycho.
Then we get some of Jason's dad abusing him and his mom. Fast forward to present day and same old same old. I know I'm missing a ton of details here, but it's the very basic formula for the movie. Girl kills Jason at the end.
The second script which was the older one started with this group of young adults hiking and I believe they encountered very bad weather so they had to look for shelter. It pretty much starts at dusk and ends in the morning. Rains almost the whole time. Which game a pretty cook vibe.
The kids ended up at Crystal Lake as they were looking for shelter. The characters were believable and fleshed out. They were smart. The cool thing was that Jason didn't really appear till the end. He was stalking them, and taking then out one by one, but you never actually saw him fully. Kind of in the shadows and his boots and stuff like that. He's also very real, and not zombie Jason.
It came down to a guy and a girl, and the final fight with Jason sounded awesome. Very detailed so I don't recall everything, but I know they let Jason have it. They basically brutalized him and he kept coming back at them. Finally there is a scene in a cabin where Jason is about to kill the girl because he severely injured her leg and the guy comes in at the last second (thought he was dead) and puts a pole through Jason. Jason goes to the ground on his back and is motionless and you think he might be dead but as the guy is helping the girl up Jason sits up and pulls the pole out and the guy grabs it again and shoves it right through Jason's eye socket and out the back of his head.
Now it's morning and Jason is dead. The cops show up they are rounding up all the bodies. The guy and the girl are being treated and are in shock, and Jason's body is about to be loaded into an ambulance and the movie is about to end with calming music. AND BAM!!! Jason raised up, pulls off the sheet gets up and makes a beeline for the girl, running! She screams of course and the guy tries to cut off Jason and he just pretty much caves his head in with the pole.
The cops start shooting Jason as they block his patch to the girl but it doesn't phase him as he plows through the cops by either just tossing them away or killing them. The girl then runs for a police car and he catches up and pulls her out of the car as she is about to get away but she was able to grab a shotgun from in the car. She frees herself and shoots him in the chest multiple times as he staggers back and then aims at his head and says something like die mf'r and basically blows half his head off. she drops the gun get in the police car and looks in the rear view mirror and Jason pops up. She reverses and runs him over a couple times. Brutally smashing his head. She speeds away and we see Jason from top down and he is basically a mangled mess. His eye opens, credits hit.
This is all from my memory so I might be leaving stuff out or adding some stuff I thought might have been cool if added. But I really thought the second one was good.Comment
