        *laughs* No problem Renegade.

        GPU = Graphics Card Processor.
        PCs graphic cards are just one main processor (but have smaller chips to help it out)
        The PS3 will have 12 mini processors with the Cell Engine to help it out.
        The Xbox 2 will have 2 processors.

        The developers look at how much extra crap and coding they'll have to weed through. Getting all aspects of these video cards to play nice. The consoles are a bit more of a headache.

        Right now the PS3 is going to be a pain. Look at your TV screen and then divide it into 12 zones. Programers are going to have to program for all 12 zones to make one consistant flowing animation. The good is that there will be a ton of power in each zone, the downside is that getting all the zone to animate an object is going to be a lot of rough work.

        The Xbox 2 has 2 main parts to it's graphics chip - a lot less work than the PS3's maze of fun... but stilll, it'll take some time. Thankfully Microsoft showed off it's middleware program called XNA at E3 that's supposed to help devleopment be eaiser.

        The PC is and will always be the easiest in terms of getting what you one on there fast... problem is trying to make a game that will be stable on all sorts of systems, which is one of the reasons a lot more developers are going to consoles. 1 system configuration.

        I give credit to programmers, even ones that aren't that great. It's tough work that I'd never touch in a few dozen lifetimes.

        That explained a little bit better? =)

            Re: Next Generation Consoles

            I've heard if the cell chip lives up to the hype,it would destroy anything Microsoft and Nintendo have. Sounds like the Xbox 2 (Xenon) will ship late 2005.Also in the new GI they mention some of the games that will either be at the launch of the Xbox 2 or just after.

            Perfect Dark Zero, a new Project Gotham Racing, a new game from Epic (published by MS),Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion, Half-Life 2,and big M has hinted that a little game called Halo 3 may realease the same day that the PS3 lauches.

            GI also confirmed that the Xenon dev unit is ironically a modified version of Apple's G5.
