Re: Anyone try/going to pick up LSL: MAGNA CUM LAUDE?

I rented the game this evening and here are my thoughts (i'm not good at reviewing games but at least you'll get an idea)

-It's visually appealing tho I wish Larry Lovage didn't have such a cartoony look compared to the other characters in the game.

-i'm usually horrible at anything other than sports games but yeesh this game doesn't have much true challenge. Yes there's a lot of reflexes based challeges but nothing TOO hard.

-The game is VERY dumbed down in that you're basically TOLD what to do. One of the things I loved about the old LSL games was that it really let you explore and grope (no pun intended) your way through the game and get by with your wits more than being told what to do.

I think it's an ok game but I would've loved to have seen more of a point and click style and puzzles rather than reflexes based challenges. Overall i'd rent it but not buy. I hope that the game does have enough sales numbers to warrant more sequels cuz I think that with some work the series could translate well to the consoles.

rent is the way to go. but it was pretty funny. i was surprised by that.

i was expecting lame and unfunny humor, but it's really lame and pretty funny humor instead.

            who knew?

            also computer lady breasts.

Thats all I needed to hear.
The reason I loked the old larry games was the exploring and the hard puzzles. Looks like I may only gove this one a rent.

It got the "Shame of the Month" from EGM in their latest issue. The scores it recieved were 3.5, 2.5, and 1.5 (out of 10). Is this game really that bad?

I rented it after hearing all the talk about how the old LSL games were on the PC. I guess my expectations were a little high, but after playing it for a couple days, I have to say I am not that impressed with it. If you were able to explore a little bit more rather than going from point to point, then it might be a little bit better.

It's not THAT bad. It'a actually a very funny game but the game play is very blah. I mean it's the only non sports game that I've ever beaten since the current generation consoles. So that should tell you how easy and pedestrian the game play is. The humour ALMOST makes up for it but not quite.

There is one chick in the game who's cutscene with Larry was so hilariius that I spit out my coke. Lets just say the situation with that one chick was very much like a certain famous 90s movie revelation. I don't want spoil it for you tho.
