How did you come up with your Gamertag?

My gamertag on Xbox Live is Catch22. How did you get your Gamertag?

Funny story about how I got my nickname. I lived in Austin TX when this Xbox Live thing was due to come out in about 3 weeks. A friend from Maddenplanet (a now defunct website) told me that a certain Walmart had Xbox Live boxes out early.

So I hopped in my badass Saturn and went down there and indeed they were on the shelf. I scooped one up and resumed shopping. I noticed that some guy came over and was taking them off the shelf. He said "this isn't supposed to be out for two more weeks or so..".

He then tried to take the one I had in my cart away and put it in his little case. I stopped him and said, uh no, this stays in my cart.

So I went to check out and as per tradition at Walmart there was this super old lady who didn't have a clue about what I was buying. She tried to ring it up and it wouldn't go through. I played dumb. She called the manager and listened and then hung up. She then told me the manager had told her to tell me it wasn't allowed to be sold yet.

I told her "it was on the sales floor and I wanted to buy it anyways". Thankfully the old lady didn't want to get involved in a big "thing" so she just rang it up generic for $59.99 (I think that was the price) and manually typed in Xbox Live on the receipt. This took her about 3 years I think to do and the entire time I knew someone was going to come over and stop her.

She FINALLY finished it and I got out of there like a bat out of hell. Got home and thought "YES! I can get my nickname ODogg!!" promptly typed in ODogg and it was taken. Drat! It figures.

Happened to glance up on my wall and saw my huge Emmitt Smith "Catch 22" poster...so I figured, well that's an easy to remember nickname..the book and all and it has the Cowboys connection. but I'll bet it's not available. Typed it in and VOILA! It was..and that's how I became Catch22...

Used Ares for everything until he became a popular character on Xena. Picked it from a mythology book and had 2 friends took the Phobos and Deimos mantles (still use them today). We picked these names for our RPG accounts at a local laser tag place and used them on local BBSes in the 90s.

With Ares being used all over the place (xAresX, AresWarGod, spelling it Aries and thinking it's the god of war, etc) I started using Elstevo instead. Someone said that meant 'the stevo' so to make it a little more nonsensical I started using meStevo.

I also use variations of Zerin, Berinth, Heirin, Perin... all from a randomly generated name given to a Beastlord I'd made in Everquest.

Because of my long Italian last name my friends would call me "pepper" in reference to the Italian pepper, pepperoncini.

My last name is Berry and my favorite number is 03.... Berry03.

It's boring and I honestly hate it but PSN doesn't let me change my name dammit, lol. I would love to use my Xbox tag which is BigDBearsFan23.

Then I realize I'm no shogun, I'm not from Harlem and I am no Master, I don't even have a paint brush (if you know the movie I'm referencing you'll dig it).

I'm a school teacher, from Boston and in trouble because my report card grade runners are late......AGAIN.........and really, ALL 300 students got an A? AGAIN! Do you even grade?????? Easiest class ever.

Yeah, that is me proper. But I got my name from my favorite movie, Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon. Still great to this day.

Now may I add, the funniest name I ever saw, and not to derail this thread but I have to tell. ArnoldSwollenpecker

How did you come up with your Gamertag?

Made this name back in like 05 when I was in 5th grade. I just wanted to play games. First thing that came to my mind are two simple words. Mike is my real name and noob was just the first word I thought of apparently. I just wanted to get into a game asap and it has stuck with me since. Only time I couldn't use this name was on Xbox. Someone had the name "mike noob" and he hasn't played for 3 years when I last checked. Unfortunately for him, he was still an Xbox live gold member.

First used it on Diablo 2 and Age of Mythology.

Any number of people in that story could have gotten fired for selling you that but I'm glad you got a good username.

I doubt it, breaking street date wasn't a known big offense back then like it is now..

My initials and wlfpack, not for any sports teams, but the nWo Wolfpac. I don't game online anymore, so I don't have to explain what it is to folks I'd run across in games of Madden.

PSN name is Al_tough_24. Back on ps1 me and my cousin created a stable called M.I.A or Misfits in Action on Smackdown 2. He was Ty Tough and I was Al Tough. The 24 comes from my number I always used for myself in Madden when I create myself usually as a RB.
