Count me in as another who won't be buying this purely because of the marketing tactic.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
Well, there's a reason why the sales for CoD have dramatically fell off since Advanced Warfare. The game became too much like Halo/Titanfall with the jet packs and wall running. I'm pretty confident I'm not in the minority with that opinion.
It's also why they are packaging Infinite with this remaster.Comment

I will be waiting for the price drop around the holidays to pick this up. If the price does not drop, oh well.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
Pretty ridiculous that not only would I have to pay 80 dollars for one game (I'm definitely not interested in Infinite Warfare) but one that is 10 years old with only half of the maps. I'm sure the other 10 are already made but will be delivered in overpriced DLC.
Shameful they are going to sell it this way.Last edited by thegut; 05-05-2016, 08:59 AM.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
Battlefield devs slam new CoD
Following the reveal of Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare yesterday, Battlefield developers at DICE allegedly slam the trailer and look of the game through social media.
Love it or hate it, the latest Call of Duty title was finally revealed yesterday, bringing the franchise into the final frontier of space. While the initial footage for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was met with both praise and scorn by fans, some were simply less than impressed with what they saw. Members of the developer studio DICE, who are best known for their work on the competing Battlefield franchise, took to social media to voice their opinions while mocking the upcoming shooter at the same time.
While the Tweets have since been taken down by the developers, PlayStation Lifestyle managed to capture the most damaging ones. Senior Video & Media Director/Editor, Roland Smedberg, led the initial charge calling the trailer quaint along with grade school editing and graphics from 2010. Smedberg went even further, criticizing certain trailer decisions such as an ugly depth of field and poor lighting.
Battlefield 5 Smedberg Tweet
Other DICE devs joined in as well like Randy Evans, who coincidentally enough is handling the reveal trailer for Battlefield 5, responded to a user on Twitter saying it looked like a game from 10 years ago. Julian Manolov, an engineer at DICE LA, added a snarky comment saying the trailer was 3 and a half minutes of CG and asked his followers for a link to the actual gameplay.
These Tweets no doubt led to some backlash, not just by fans, but by management as well. The more disparaging Call of Duty related Tweets have since been removed from their timelines and have been replaced with more positive ones. Roland Smedberg went as far as apologizing through a series of Tweets saying what he did was a stupid mistake and one that he won’t do again.
It’s an interesting move from some of the developers at DICE considering many fans would argue that they have much to prove themselves as well. Both Battlefield 3 and 4 suffered through massive server based online issues and bugs so severe that EA ended up facing multiple lawsuits because of it. Both DICE and EA have agreed that the launch was entirely unacceptable and have managed to say all of the right things post-launch, though the company has a lot to prove outside of just making Battlefield 5 look really pretty. The most recent title in the franchise, Battlefield Hardline, had a relatively smooth launch, though Visceral Games led the development on that title so many continue to wait to see what DICE is going to do.
With a Battlefield 5 reveal later this week, it appears the long standing rivalry between Call of Duty and Battlefield is set to resume later this year. While Infinite Warfare promises to continue to push gamers into the future with battle set in space, rumors have been swirling that Battlefield 5 is set to take the franchise back in time to World War I. Considering the glut of modern and futuristic shooters saturating the market these days, perhaps moving the timeline back is what will help Battlefield 5 stand out among the crowd.
How do you feel about the comments made from DICE developers? Do you like the verbal sparring or would you rather the devs focus on letting the game speak for itself? Feel free to sound off in the comments below.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
Yeah, not so sure anyone at DICE should be taking shots at COD. Especially with how bad Battlefield 4 was at launch. Arguably one of the worst launches a videogame could have..next to BF3 of course
Now BF4 has fixed those missteps and has a solid game with a ton of content. But after the failures of Hardline and Battlefront, they need to also prove that BF5 is going to be a great game at launch.Comment

The shots were at the graphics and CG that every COD shoves down our throats in every trailer. DICE does a much better job now than the revolving door that keeps making each COD release.
Battlefront unfortunately failed due to lack of content, but besides that, Battelfronts graphics are top notch, and at least a tier above anything COD has done recently. Also, it's Star Wars...that's worth at least 10 points.
Hardline, eh. Visceral sucks.Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
Uh, COD has had it's fair share of issues at launch as well. Almost all large scale games with large MP presence have issues now.

What I meant was, DICE should worry about their own game. When you start bad mouthing competition, you look petty.Comment

As a hopeful consumer I will pray that its a email or code on the receipt that gives us a digital download and won't require us to use the Infinite warfare disk to access the Cod4 MP. therefore will download the digital copy and simply return the unopened POS infinite warfare.Go Cubs Go [ W ]Comment

Re: Call of Duty 4 Remastered
As someone that put more hours into COD 4 then I can even begin to estimate, I am beyond thrilled. Will buy this then check out the other game and probably sell it. Although I'm sure eBay will be flooded with copies.
Shows how far COD has fallen as a lot of us are beyond hyped for a game that came out 9 years ago!Comment
