I felt like I was playing Call of Duty again with 4 and there's a reason I quit playing CoD after Black Ops and never looked back.

I can totally see it from your point. BF4 was a little bit too fast paced, but not at all the COD. The maps were a little to centered around 1 main focal area, but it was still a very good game. WW1 just was a boring area in fighting for me. I dont likw the wait in the trences warfare, some probably love it. THe wepons are just so standard. So for me the fighting style and the wepons are whats making me think again about buying it. My friend is in the same boat as me. We both put in over 4500 hours in the last 2

Its probably boring to you because there is no video footage of it so your brain is just filling in the gaps from pictures and information you read. The reality was that WW1 was about as brutal as it gets.

I'm curious as to how DICE will make trench warfare interesting. In WW1 one side would attack a trench, get mowed down, the other side would counter attack, get mowed down, and then repeat this process for weeks or months.

I love the the setting as it makes for epic scaled battles & great story telling for the campaigns. Modern warfare feels more flat & uninteresting to me compared to the grand scale of WW1 & WW2.

Yea, too bad the campaigns aren't any good now in these games. Not that Battlefield was ever known for that...but still.

Glad I just picked up my PS4.... So ready.

DICE revealed some additional details about Battlefield 1 Friday that represent a significant change from previous entries in the franchise. PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players will need to pick specific classes to control vehicles in the game this time around. There’s also one fan requested class change.

Battlefield 1 will contain four primary classes for players to choose from – Assault, Medic, Scout, and Support. You may have already noticed one change here already. The Assault and Medic classes are now separate instead of combined into a single class and the Engineer has been dropped.

The developer has added two additional classes to Battlefield 1 – a Tanker and a Pilot. DICE Senior Producer Aleks Grondal confirmed the new classes in an interview with Xbox On. He explained the primary weapon for each class is their respective vehicles while YouTuber JackFrags suggests players will spawn directly into their respective vehicle.

We do know that vehicles will have their own sub-classes. For example, tanks will come in light, medium, and heavy variants with different stats and abilities.

It’s also unknown how the class role structure will affect other vehicles shown in the trailer and mentioned on stage by DICE. This includes the Zeppelins, Destroyers, and even horses.

Traditionally, Battlefield players have been able to pick up any vehicle that is available on the map regardless of their role. This sometimes leads to fights over vehicles between teammates or players driving away on a vehicle and dumping it once they reach their destination. It will be interesting to see how making the use of vehicles in multiplayer class-based will work.

As for the rest of the classes, the Assault players will have SMGs. Support will carry LMGs, and the Scout will carry the Sniper Rifle. The Medic looks like it will carry a semi-automatic weapon along with the medkit. Pistols, shotguns, and dynamite have also been confirmed, but it is unknown which classes will have access to the latter two.

Battlefield 1 is scheduled to be released Tuesday, October 18 for those that purchase Early Enlister Deluxe Edition. Everyone else will have to wait until Friday, October 21.

They're most likely going to be pick-ups in the field of battle.

No doubt that people will be looking to find others to group with. But I'm more than sure that by the time this game comes out these types of posts are going to be buried behind hundreds upon hundreds of subsequent posts.

I'm sure we'll make a grouping thread when it's near release.

Could be different with this game now that they've gotten away from the **** swinging contest they had with the COD series and a modern warfare campaign.

Also, I'd argue the Bad Company series was very much known for its campaign. Either way, here's hoping the WW1 setting loosens the reigns on the campaign team to give us something special.

I'm just hoping they don't go crazy with the alternate reality bit. I'm more of a stickler for realism and being historically accurate, but if the trailer is any indication then tanks are already unrealistically fast and full body armour really shouldn't be making an appearance.

Agreed - also, I know it won't happen, but I'd be perfectly content with campaigns (in these types of games) being left out in lieu to make room for more maps. There's a lot of work that goes on with the campaign mode and I think they could use that time & effort in the multiplayer mode.

This series has been mostly driven by multiplayer, and I always run the campaign before I even dive into the multiplayer but I'd rather see them focus on an all multiplayer FPS for this series and I'd still purchase Day 1.

Imo, these sort of campaigns don't have much replay value anyway.
