I am with you on this.

Got me pumped to pick up the PS4 Remaster and replay 3 again (which was so, so good). It has been some time, and I still have my PS3 version on the shelf. Forgot to play the PSP to PS3 remasters as well (that backlog, lol), have to pop that in the PS3 or just subscribe to PSNow with the super cheap deal right now, since my OG PS3 screams like a banshee and was reflowed once already 3 years ago, lol.

My Sony Android TV has the PSNow App, so time to test it out (was impressed with beta years ago on the PS4). The DS4 works very snappy on the TV, much better than the remote that came with it. Feels like using the PS4.

I am more into the story/phenomenal artwork with the original God of Wars, as well as the scope of the boss fights, more than I was into the gameplay. So that is why I was so fond of them. I really enjoyed their rendition of the Greek Mythos.

Now after seeing this gameplay trailer, I am actually just as pumped for the gameplay/immersion aspect, as I am to see their rendition of Valhalla and the amazing artwork to accompany it.

Some people have said the boss fight reminded them of a Souls boss fight a bit. Have not played a Souls game since Demon Souls on the PS3 (in which I only played a couple of hours before it got shelved when I was taken away from gaming for contract work), and just recently got Bloodborne which I have to play soon.

E3 2016: We Came So Close to Getting an Egyptian God of War

"We are parsing it as the time in which the Vikings spoke of their Gods walking the Earth," creative director Cory Barlog told a panel at E3 2016, as reported by Eurogamer.net. "So it's not in the era where the Vikings are around, we're predating them by a considerable amount of time."
Of course, Norse mythology wasn't the only idea that the developer had. "Egyptian mythology was the other one and half the team was way into that," he said. "All of them had great reasons. I think, for me, as I looked at both of those, Egyptian mythology is about the pharaohs as embodiments of the Gods on Earth and there's a lot more about civilisation – it's less isolated, less barren. I think at this time, we really wanted to focus on Kratos."
The new God of War represents a departure for the series, with Kratos living life more prosaically with his son. But fans of the franchise for its bombast won't be left behind. "I think spectacle is part of our DNA," he admitted. "I made a very deliberate choice not to put that in this demo. We needed to stand out a little bit and show people why we changed this game. But there's still the David vs. Goliath. The troll fight is a small version of what we really have to show."

Man, not to me. The Norse take on this is badass. But yah, who's to say that won't be another option down the road...

Not a reboot as you see a scar from past games. I was thinking his kid was going to get it and then he'd be mad at these Gods. I actually like the idea of a slow Kratos. I love God of War 1-3 and Ascension. But it seems at least from the play through that he got over his pain, made a new life and grew older. Now is going to have to come out of retirement and instead of hunting deer it's back to hunting Gods.

I'm a big fan of the God of War series. One of my favorite Sony exclusives. Always an automatic buy.

I love this new direction because I'm confident that the things that made GoW great, like the combat and puzzles, will still be there.

It's bigger now. More cinematic. Can't wait.

Some info - No multi-player, won't be Kratos' final game.

Cory Barlog, director of the new God of War series, in an interview with Levelup website has indeed said that there will be no multiplayer feature in this new title. Since he has confirmed the absence of this feature, we can trust that Sony Santa Monica will use all its efforts and resources on developing a personal experience, but of a very good quality and, above all, change the course of the series.

In related news, the new God of War will not be the last game of Kratos. When Sony showed that the new God of War of Kratos was focused on the relationship with his child, many thought it would be a game handover where we would have to say goodbye to the God of War. Fortunately, things will not go well, since this God of War will not be the last of Kratos.

The director of the game also confirmed what was said above and stated that, contrary to what many may think, we will control Krato throughout the game. However, in God of War, we will be able to give orders to the son of Kratos to attack an enemy or turn a few things.

It is important to note that the son of Kratos will not be an obstacle to the visceral combat. In this presentation Barlog said that the boy is perfectly capable of taking care of himself, and so we will not have to stop while attacking an enemy to save his son.

In this new God of War, Kratos will be well aware of its past, although this remains a mystery to his son.
