I can't decide whether this is a game I actually would want to shell out $60 for or if I'm just interested in some free-roam and that's it.
I love Insomniac and all they've done with Ratchet & Clank, but it's small RPG elements and puzzles combined with the Crash Bandicoot kind of nostalgia is what really gets me going with those games. In something like Spider-Man, I feel like it's more just a game of performing combos and such.
It doesn't look like the campaign/missions are too hampered down in small environments though which is good, but an issue of the previous SM games is that the campaign definitely didn't involve as much web-slinging throughout the city. If this one takes more advantage of something like that, I might be a little more invested in it. It seems like this one is more of a sandbox kind of game where you can swing around and even stop petty crimes and such, so that's definitely a plus.
None of this speaks on the quality of the game itself, which by the way looks to be a AAA title all the way and appears rather fantastic. I just can't tell if it's worth fondling over for a long amount of time or if I'm better off just renting it. Are there any online play components to this game as well?
Also, is this actually all of New York city, like its entire landscape? Or is it limited a little bit? EDIT: At least I see Stark Tower there haha.
