If I knew how to go about finding a copy early, I would try for this game. I'm so F'n excited for it

The way to find it early is twofold:

1. Simply start going around to all local moms and pops shops to ask when they will get the game in (as in when they will receive it) and then hope they get it early...if they say they're getting it early then show up then and just act as if you do not know anything about any "release date" and want to buy it.

2. If no luck on number 1 then expand your search to shops within reasonable driving distance in local cities.

Then if neither of those work you can always start hunting on Ebay and craigslist but this is only for those who don't mind paying anywhere from $20 to $50 more to get it early so...

If you don't mind but for many folks the hunt is a game itself. I don't do it anymore since we got EA Access but man some of the memories of hunting down NCAA and Madden early are the best gaming memories I have.

And then the feeling you have when you have it and no one else does is great too. Childish a bit, I know, but still pretty cool anyways.

With that being said, I have noticed that all OSers who ever got games early have always bent over backwards to answer everyone's questions about the game; I know I always did for the times I got NCAA early.

I guess I've just never understood the appeal.

Especially now with companies being able to tell when a console is playing a game before it's supposed to.

they can tell but it used to matter when no one got the game early but now the actual companies release the game early to rappers, rock stars, celebrities etc so they really don't ever spend any time trying to ban people or whatever when they see it being played online.

The only time I ever tried to hunt down a copy of a game early was NCAA Football 12. I did get it the Thursday before release, but it ultimately wasn't worth the gas and time spent getting it, as it was an hour to an hour and a half round trip to the nearest place willing to break street date. From then on, I just waited for the actual release.

I did at least help out the NCAA community here and on another gaming site I frequent by answering questions for people and giving game impressions. My first ever game on NCAA 12 wasn't even one I played. It was a CPU vs CPU Army vs Navy game to answer questions about how the triple option and other game mechanics were run by CPU teams.

Now I just wait for the actual release. I always have another game to enjoy in the meantime. Been plowing hours into No Man's Sky since the release of the NEXT update, and have We Happy Few coming out this Friday. Those two games (plus work) will easily suck up hours and days until Spider-Man releases.

Sadly Ill be waiting for my copy when it comes with the Pro. But I can definitely wait for it. The only time I was able to score a game early was 2 years ago best buy mistakenly shipped my pre-order for MLB The show a week early and I was able to play the game for a few days before it was officially released.

I dont know what stores are like even mom and pop when people talk about getting games early and I also would be paying even more because I still have my 20% off with BB. The thing that does suck is I am not going to have a lot of free time when this game is out. I start collage again in a few weeks and I will be in school all day and I mean all day both Tuesday and Thursday and will be working 3-4 days a week hoping more like 3 and will most likely have to spend one of my days of just doing HW. So I will most likely only have 1 will day of like free time and even some of that will go towards watching nfl and basketball come October. With that said I am still really looking forward to the game but I know I am not going to have a lot of free time.

Regarding the Collector's Edition statue:

Sony’s not going to show you the statue that comes with the $149.99 Collector’s Edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man because… Well, it’s a spoiler, apparently. Insomniac Games’ community director James Stevenson explained on ResetEra that the Gentle Giant manufactured statue will be “boxed in a way that says when you can open it to save yourself”.

They aren't going to reveal the statue before the game comes out because it's a spoiler. So people that bought the CE will have to wait to see it until they pick it up.

I'm sure there will be be a paper or something that says "Don't completely unbox until you finish 'Chapter ______'".

It's a completely original story that Insomniac came up with. Nothing to do with the comics.

Think of this as a whole other universe.

That being said, Insomniac's Spider-Man is going to be included in the Spider-Geddon comic event.

Best example- someone asked if there would be a "Pay Respects" thing for Gwen Stacy (similar to Bruce's parents in the Arkham games) and one of the developers told him "Who said Gwen Stacy was dead in our universe?"
