I had heard that the day 1 patch added new game+ and also a 4th difficulty level. Is that not true about the a 4th difficulty?

Played for about an hour after DL'ing the game last night... it's incredible.

I died a few times playing on amazing through the first boss fight. It’s not easy by any means. Not yet anyways. I’m sure once i get better with the combat it will get easier. They kind of throw a lot of moves at you in a short time and it was late so I was rushing the tutorial messages so that doesn’t help either I’m guessing.

I'm about an hour and a half in, roughly 6% progress wise and right before the mission where you get the Advanced suit. It's a fun game! I'm extremely rough on controls when it comes to web swinging through the city. I keep swinging into buildings and stuff and have to wall run up and launch myself off the building to continue swinging.

I'm sure as I play the game more, I'll get a better hang of the controls and be able to do some gymnastics type **** while swinging through the streets. But even with my crappy handling of the controls while swinging, GOD IT IS FUN! I could literally spend this entire weekend doing nothing but just swinging throughout the city and fighting criminals as I happen to come across them.

Combat I like, it does take some thought to battles, especially when you have the big brute guys, or guys armed with weapons that you can't just simply sit there hitting or to keep bashing them. You have to actually use various moves to get behind them, or websling them, or use environmental objects. My failure to adapt as quickly to the brutes have caused me to die at least twice so far on Amazing difficulty.

So far I'm having a lot of fun and can't wait to dig into it more tonight after work around 11pm. Already unscrambled four or five towers, found 6 or 7 backpacks, handled a half dozen crimes as Spider Cop (god I was laughing during that whole Spider Cop dialogue between Spidey and Yuri). So I've gotten a pretty good starting experience with the game and am enjoying the hell out of it.

It may change depending what the game is like later on, but so far, this is easily a 10/10 for me! I'd declare it my personal game of the year right now if it wasn't for Red Dead Redemption 2 releasing next month. I'll have to wait and see what that is ultimately like before I declare either Spidey or RDR2 as my personal GOTY.

The game is great, no doubt, but here are a few of my cons.

That tower unlock mini game is annoying. Sometimes I get it in a few seconds, others I'm fiddling around for minutes before finally skipping. I feels similar to the cryogenic sequencer mechanic in Arkham just not as good. IDK

If you're talking about the waveform mini-game, the right thumbstick is amplitude, the left is frequency. Just give them same amplitude with the right stick, and then it only takes a couple seconds to match wavelength with left thumbstick.

Combat is real good. I got the hang of it now, you just have to not get stuck in the middle. I sometimes swing out of a tight spot to get distance. There is so many moves and there’s more to unlock. Swinging got way better once get the first upgraded suit, doing some awesome swinging now.

Let me just say this right now. I’m a Xbox groupie but Hot Damn does Sony put out some AMAZING GAMES!!

Insomniac should get most of the credit here imo. Microsoft was smart enough to hire them too they just didn’t have a character like spidey to give them. There’s actually a lot of sunset overdrive in this game. You can tell making that game helped them here.

Yeah, I got the digital deluxe edition and I have yet to see or get access to any of the bonus stuff that came with pre-ordering the game. I'm assuming we'll get a emailed code from Sony or something to download the bonus stuff or something, since it's not available from the immediate start of the game, at least not available so far that I've come across.

Few thoughts:

1) Flying thru the air is far more cooler than I anticipated.

2) I love how the music turns into a superhero theme as soon as I throw a web out. Really immersive, IMO...it shall not get old.

3) Photo mode...they've added some unique touches to make it feel like you're Peter Parker. Great job on this. I'm going to spend way too much time on this.

4) I love the environmental things you can do to knock out enemies; I enjoy all the web takedowns too, gosh it's so enjoyable.

5) I like the combos but boy, I am not good at them. I've got to work on it.

6) I love the different suits...I'm partial to the old-school one.

7) One slight: why can't I configure the controller like I want? Using the D-pad for focus health is slightly awkward in the middle of a fight. I really want to move that to L1 or something so I have easy access to it.

You can add text?! I couldn't figure that out or see where.

The options in photo mode (chibi, emoticons, etc.) are so small these old eyes can't see it I guess.

Can’t find the theme anywhere. When I bought madden the them auto downloaded. I don’t get how you can advertise that if you buy the game a theme comes with it. You should get it right then. It doesn’t say free theme with download on this date. It says free download with purchase of game. Ridiculous if it’s not availanle

Huh, I only had the game download for me. I ended up getting my digital deluxe copy through Gamestop since I was trading in my old PS4 Tuesday after my Pro arrived from Best Buy. I used part of the credit from the trade in towards pre-ordering Spider-Man since I was just going to buy it on the PS Store that day anyways.

So if you and others got it, then either I only got the code for the game and the rest will come in a separate email, or the guys at Gamestop screwed something up and I didn't get everything I was supposed to.
