IGN is one of the most biased major gaming sites on the Net. It scores every EA Sports game so well that I'm convinced IGN is on the take from EA. It also uses the insidious practice of cutting and pasting reviews from one platform to another, simply changing a few words and a few scores and calling it a new review.

IGN = Ignorant Gaming Nerds

I fear for anyone who bases their gaming purchases on IGN reviews. You're better off sticking with an intelligent forum community like OS or Digital Sportspage or somewhere like that.

IGN sucks like a Hoover.

The problem is people read too much into the score a game gets and not into the content of the review. When I'm interested in purchasing a game I'll read the IGN and Gamespot reviews. They usually list the features they like and any problems they see with the games. If the problems are something that would hurt my gaming experience, i don't buy the game.

Because they make the fanboys feel good about themselves. They gave Fable a 9.1 even though the guy bitched about it the whole time. The PS2/GC section isn't as bad but they go overboard too by giving FF X-2 and THUG a 9.5. 9's should be given out occasionally so they have meaning. They also aren't clear. I'm pissed that I bought ESPN NBA 2K5 but since he gave it an 8.2 I thought it would be passable. It wasn't to me, I had the same impressions he did but just so he didn't piss off the ESPN fanboys he gives it a 8.2 instead of matching the review with a 7 or something.

That's why I'm leery about this 9.9 they gave this game. Like they had to do it.
