    Well...I did it...

After selling my PS2 last November I really never regretted selling it to the point where I wanted to buy one (the occasional xbox version not in, but ps2 version is in annoyance) until now... . Yes, San Andreas has changed that. I'm probably one of the biggest GTA fans here...GTA 3 is without a doubt my favorite game of all time and I tracked both San Andreas and Vice City (before release) the day they were announced. Now I will probably get other games for my PS2 (Gran Turismo 4 and others), but I admit that without Sony having exclusive rights to GTA there would of been a 5% chance of me buying a PS2.

Anyways, any recommendations on games to try? For those of you that don't know I love sports, FPS, RPG (real-time fighting) and Action games mostly. But please don't recommend any sports games. (I know everything about this years sports games, dont need any recommendations for them ) Thanks.

p.s. Me buying a PS2 ($130 for ps2 + network adapter at gamestop, great deal) does not change the fact that I still think XBOX is the best console out there.
    Lifelong Bengals and Buckeyes fan...yeah...

have you played Kingdom Hearts? and Kingdom Hearts 2 is coming out next fall I think, but it's a action type RPG, based on Disney characters. It may sound like it's too 'cute' but it's on my list of top 10 games. I tend to just stick with PS2 exclusives on my PS2, and if something comes out for both the PS2 and Xbox I grab it on the xbox (no need to worry about filling up my mem card that way)

Completely agree. I find the camera issues pretty frstrating, and there's some recurring isues with Square's pacing (always, you are not ready for the end when you hit it, you need to level a bit then finish the game).

But it's a really grand, epic game.

I never played the first one, but is it real-time combat (Fable) or just trade turns? (Final Fantasy)

                Real-time combat. Like Fable/Zelda.

the nice thing about buying systems this late into the generation is that alot of titles that you missed are at bargain prices. I can now go pick up a few games and not cost me an arm and a leg.

Eternal Salvation or triple your money back!

Yep, and I read somewhere that over 650+ titles were released this year alone on all consoles. If you cant find some sleeper bargain bin titles out of the games released this year or even last year, then I dont know what to tell you.

You didn't mention platformers as a genre you were looking for, but I will recommend one anyhow:

Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy

The first of the Jak and Daxter trilogy, this is an older game, and I believe that it is in the Greatest Hits selection now, so it won't hurt your pockets too much. Though I still don't understand the short ending, I thoroughly enjoyed playing through this game.

If you are looking for something more action-oriented, you might try either of the above's sequels, or any of the Ratchet and Clank series games.
