Is it worth the money?

I'm thinking about picking up this game to get MK 2 and 3.

I would be getting the Xbox version. I wonder how the controls are using that S controller.

I figure it you're comfortable with it for other 2d fighting games, I'm sure you'll be ok.

Personally, despite the bugs for some of the other games on the PS2 version, that's the one I prefer b/c of the controller.

I have the Xbox version. The MK2 port is great, it only has a few problems.

- The shadows sometimes flicker.
- You can't fight Smoke because when you press down and start, it pauses the game.

The MK3 port is really good as well, but has a little bit of a sound problem. The music seems to be on an odd pitch, but it's not bad at all once you get use to it.

- The Shadows flicker in 3 as well.
- You need to enter the code to get smoke everytime you turn the game on as it doesn't save the code.

Well worth it imo. Plus Rampage and Total Carnage are pretty cool games as well.

He also failed to mention the problem in MK3 with backstage music. It is supposed to stop when you perform a fatality (the instance you hear the "dun dun DUUUUUN!") and instead it stops AFTER the fatality is completely.

Something minor, but's awkward to hear the music continue playing... during a fatality...

Man, I used to play Xenophobe all the time. I loved that game. I didn't like the controls on the first Midway Arcade game though, so I probably won't get the second.

Most of the games on it are crap. Boy have games evolved a lot since then.

But I love MK2. That in itself is worth the price tag. Brings back so many memories when I use to play it in the arcades.

Now only if Capcom could hurry up and release Street Fighter Anniverary collection on Xbox.

But I love MK2. That in itself is worth the price tag. Brings back so many memories when I use to play it in the arcades.
